Science-Based Nutrition Podcast » Podcast Feed show

Summary: DHA is arguably one of, if not THE most important fatty acids in the human body. The largest of all the omega 3 fatty acids, the human body is not very good at making this large molecule from smaller molecules such as EPA, or alpha-linoleic acid from flax. Yet, the body needs DHA for many important functions and it is particularly important for brain health, memory, learning, and higher cognitive function as well as for managing mood and behavior. Listen as Dr. Parris Kidd discusses DHA and the important role that it plays as a nutrient in the human body. Dr. Parris Kidd earned his PhD in cell biology at the University of California, Berkeley. He began working in integrative medicine in 1983 and has concentrated on natural brain enhancers since 1994. As the Chief Science Officer for Doctor’s Best, Dr. Kidd enjoys educating the public and physicians about brain health.
