Was there ever an unbiased telling of any event? Are fairness and balance a fantastical pipe dream? How can opinions be set aside? Does not information go through the filter of mans' hearts and prejudices? If the answer is that there is bias and will always be bias, then what is it that we should be vigilant about when receiving information? If bias is a given, if it is understood as a channel through which information will flow, then what is information's main hindrance. The controversial organization called Wiki-leaks was founded upon the idea of complete openness of absolute non-censorship. They blew the lid off of the hidden secrets of governments and organizations and forever challenged the status-quo of how information flows. They introduced the world to a very powerful form of Wiki-power. They demonstrated what happens when a society gets vital information usually held back from public consumption. This new form of media demonstrated to the world how weak, down right corrupt or heavily censored the average flow of information is. More and more information consumers are turning to the Internet and alternative forms of media to get their information. As long as the freedom of the Internet continues censorship and propaganda is weak and mostly ineffective. With open information, the consumer can form their their own opinion. No State or Corporate entity can forge the minds of the people. The minds of the people are therefore free. The people are thus empowered to make choices of free will and direct their own pursuits of happiness accordingly. Censorship is a greater evil in our day than days gone by. On the crux of those who would enslave all men to the ideal of an all encompassing universal government of dictation and despotism. Those who would hinder information also seek to bind Liberty. Those who believe the common man to be a commodity and a slave. A free people deserves free information. SOPA, PIPA, ACTA and HR 347 are legislation designed to control information, to limit speech and the first amendment. For this reason these unconstitutional bills must be opposed. For no "new" law is above the law of the land: the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
