Post Punk Radio No. 4

Post Punk Radio show

Summary: Cherry Red Records is a London-based record label that was formed in 1978 by Iain McNay and Richard Jones. This edition of Post Punk Radio is an exploration into some of the label’s finest output which occurred when A&R head Mike Alway was added to the fold. He signed many of the groups during the late 70s / early ‘80s and would help bring the label to international recognition with the release of one of its most acclaimed releases, a compilation called 'Pillows & Prayers’ in 1982. The album was #1 on the UK charts for 19 weeks and sold over 120,000 copies, but more importantly it introduced the world to the some of the lesser know post-punk bands of the day.
