Species Franchise

Slashers show

Summary:
Get ready to get raunchy this week with all three Goons as we discuss all four installments of Species for week 3 of 2001: A Space Augusty! Find out where we rank them, what our favorite moments were, and sit in on a few tangents that involve Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Incredible Melting Man, Kissing Booth 3 and more.

The first Species was released in 1995--which, for those of you who weren’t born or simply can’t remember--was a golden year for horror movie releases. It was directed by Roger Donaldson, with voice effects by Frank Welker and stars Natasha Henstridge, Michelle Williams, Marg Helgenberger, Alfred Molina, Ben Kingsley, Michael Madsen, Forest Whitaker. Be sure to listen in and find out why Alfred Molina’s, aka Doctor Octopus, sex scene was so special.

Then we get into the magic and wonder that is Species 2. The effects, the story, the Patrick Batemen lookalike, it’s a wonder it flopped as badly as it had. There are some crazy, gory, fun effects with part 2, and while some of the premise is certainly cringey, it’s a great standup sequel that deserves more love.

Finally, parts 3 and 4 are explored in all their crazy mess and splendor. Join us as we talk shit, discuss schlock and more importantly, pay homage to some of the craziest alien-related flicks we’ve discussed all month.

This week's "Hidden Track" is by Spellbook.
