Summary: This week the girls had the privilege of interviewing culinary ambassador Pierre Thiam. Born in Senegal, Thiam is a New York City- based chef, restaurateur, author, and entrepreneur who has worked to bring the flavors and culinary traditions of West Africa to the rest of the world, and whose career runs the gamut between hospitality and social justice. His company Yolélé Foods advocates for smallholder farmers in the Sahel by opening new markets for crops grown in Africa; its signature product, Yolélé Fonio, is now available at retailers across America. It is also extremely delicious and, as Thiam says, easier to pronounce than quinoa :).
