Summary: Hello everyone! We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Lightning Show” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!

James enjoys the lightning show until he notices his big sister, Julia, is afraid of thunderstorms. Will he be able to help her out?

Narrator: Male
Lightning Show Excerpt:
James and Julia were playing ball outside when the skies grew dark. A clap of thunder echoed across the land as lightning flashed through the grey clouds, announcing the arrival of the rain. It poured down, as James and Julia ran into the house. James peered out the window, excited to watch the light show in the sky.

“Wow, can you believe this!”

James loved thunderstorms. Though he usually disliked loud sounds, there was something about thunder. He loved the way it rumbled. And the lightning! It could flash across the sky, or strike the ground with a bright burst of light. Sometimes it was even red! Looking outside, he smiled widely. Then James noticed something in the reflection of the window. His sister was under the desk, holding her knees up to her chest and looking miserable.

“Julia, what’s wrong?” he asked.

“It’s a very big storm, James,” she said, feeling a bit scared. “How are you feeling? Usually you hide from loud noises. I’m amazed you’re actually excited.”
Today’s Meditation: Feel your muscles relax as you check in with your body from head to toe.

Looking for a way to help your child learn emotional regulation and how to self soothe? You'll find them on Ahway Island®.
