She stretched and looked over at her brother. “Max? Are you awake?”<br> Max slowly sat up and stretched. “Of course.” he said with a yawn.<br> “Well, I’m going to see what we can do with grandpa and grandma.” She paused. “Do you smell that? I smell something sweet.”<br> “So do I!” Max said. “I wonder what it is?”<br> Max and Mia quickly hopped out of their beds and headed to the kitchen, where they found grandpa running the beets they had picked under cool water.<br> “Are you ready to help pickle the beets?” He asked.<br> “And the cucumbers?” said grandma.<br> “Yes!” Both Max and Mia exclaimed.<br> “OK, I’ve boiled the beets, and now I’m cooling them.
