The Episode’s Run Down Released August 23rd, 2019 Visit CycleAndDredge.Com for tons of great podcasts and media! Stop asking if games are political! GameIndustry.biz posted a public plea asking people to stop asking game development studios if a game is political stating that the questions diminishes both the actual question, the studio’s response, and the actual content of a game. Twitch ran porn ads on Ninja’s channel. After Ninja left Twitch for Mixer, Twitch used Ninja’s channel to post advertisements to other streams and apparently porn. Ninja is obviously not happy. The question has to be asked, though, despite this possibly harming Ninja’s brand, does Ninja have any right to complain? After all, he was using a free non-government provided platform. More pressingly, why was Twitch displaying porn advertisements on a platform that is known to have children regularly using it? Nvidia CEO says buying a graphics card without Ray Tracing would be crazy During a recent earnings call, Nvidia’s CEO Jen-Hsun Huang stated that it would be crazy not to buy a graphics card with ray tracing today. Steam’s most recent hardware survey at the time of this writing shows that most gamers are using an Nvidia 1060 as their primary graphics card showing that many gamers clearly prefer the mid-range market of cards. The Nvidia 2060 card has shown to suffer heavy performance hits using ray-tracing, Nvidia’s current mid-tier RTX enabled GPU. It’s been stated that the first game requiring ray tracing won’t arrive until 2023 – the end of the expected life cycle for current new generation graphics cards. Still, in its current state, game engine don’t utilize full ray tracing but rather a mixture of rasterized lighting effects with ray tracing.  Microsoft says cloud gaming is inevitable, but years away Phil Spencer recently stated game streaming is years away and will not take over the industry anytime soon, though he does admit it will happen. This comes at a time when Stadia is hot in the news with a release date soon approaching. Could Phil Spencer be right? Questions still remain as to how services like Stadia and Xbox Cloud will be affected by things like poor network connectivity in rural areas, aging infrastructure that regularly causes ISP connection issues in urban areas, and imposed data caps from ISPs like Comcast. Specter also stated that the experience of local gameplay is not the same as playing video games streamed to a phone.  “The experience [streaming on a phone] is not the same as running the games on an Xbox One X. I’m not going to say that it’s an 8k 120-hertz thing. That’s not what we’re doing. We’re going to bring convenience and choice to you on your phone.” Phil Spencer, Microsoft Discord released its transparency report with some possibly confusing metrics? Discord released a transparency report detailing how and why it bans people in the hopes that users understand their policies better. That report includes ‘self harm’ and also states that it removed things like support to recent mass shooter’s manifesto. Take2, hostile or not? Take2 CEO stated that linking video games to violence is disrespectful to gun violence victims. This comes after Take2 sent private investigators recently to a
