Summary: CHARLES BRANDT (best-selling author) and GRANT WOODS (former Attorney General of Arizona) Joining us on the show this week is attorney and best-selling author, Charles Brandt! Born and raised in New York City, Charles Brandt is a former junior high school English teacher, welfare investigator in East Harlem, homicide prosecutor, Chief Deputy Attorney General of the State of Delaware and the author of 4 books including "I Heard You Paint Houses" - which is now a major motion picture titled, "The Irishman", directed by Martin Scorsese. The film stars Robert DeNiro as Frank "the Irishman" Sheeran and Al Pacino as Jimmy Hoffa, the Irishman's close associate and mentor. "The Irishman" is slated for release later this year, 2019. In private practice since 1976, Brandt has been president of the Delaware Trial Lawyers Association and the Delaware Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates. He has been named by his peers to both Best Lawyers in America and Best Lawyers in Delaware. He is a frequent speaker on cross-examination and interrogation techniques for reluctant witnesses. Brandt is also the author of a novel based on major cases he solved through interrogation, The Right to Remain Silent and co-author of Joe Pistone's Donnie Brasco: Unfinished Business and of Lin DeVecchio's We're Going to Win This Thing: The Shocking Frame-Up of a Mafia Crime Buster. Also joining us on the show this week is our Special Guest - former Attorney General of Arizona, first Chief of Staff to John McCain, songwriter and playwright - Grant Woods! Grant Woods served as Arizona's Attorney General from 1991-1999 and was one of the principal architects of the states' lawsuits against the tobacco companies and was a key negotiator in the resulting largest civil settlement in history with over $2 billion to Arizona health care so far. He was the first Chief of Staff to the late Senator John McCain and delivered the first eulogy at Senator McCain's memorial service. As a songwriter, Mr. Woods' songs have been recorded and performed by award-winning artists such as Francine Reed, and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and E Street Band member Nils Lofgren. Mr. Woods has written two plays, Dear Senator and most recently, the sex dramedy, "The Things We Do," which will have its West Coast premiere in Los Angeles in April, 2019. The play explores, "...the situation a lot of couples find themselves in when they reach a certain point in life - people who are in their 40s or 50s and have many years invested in their relationships, but who now must decide whether to go forward or make a change."
