Back in 2016 the pools were filled in as the pools filled with static swampy warm water were a concern for generating mosquitoes, now the pools, the remaining structures, and theming elements are being removed as Disney prepares the site for the new Disney nature-inspired resort coming to Walt Disney World 2022, it will have DVC villas but also 1,700 traditional guest rooms, making this a pretty significant new resort development. With Disney announcing a new play pavilion for the long-cast aside Wonders of Life pavilion and now a hotel going on the site of River Country I have to say it’s great to see Disney giving some long-since forgotten attractions life in new forms. The big spot still abandoned is across the water from River Country at Discovery Island in the middle of Bay Lake, which has sat there untouched since it’s zoological exhibits closed in 1999, replaced by the Animal Kingdom. Maybe we’ll get some new bungalows or something of the sort out there someday soon!<br> That’s today’s latest news in the World of Disney.
