Robin Feldman received a bachelor's degree from Stanford University and a J.D. from Stanford Law School. Professor Feldman served in the Articles Department of the Stanford Law Review. After graduation, she clerked for The Honorable Joseph Sneed of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Professor Feldman has published three books, Drug Wars: How Big Pharma Raises Prices & Keeps Generics Off the Market (Cambridge 2017), Rethinking Patent Law (Harvard 2012) and The Role of Science in Law (Oxford 2009). The upcoming Drugs, Money, & Secret Handshakes: The Unstoppable Growth of Prescription Drug Prices will be released soon. She has authored more than 50 articles in including at Harvard, Yale, and Stanford, in the New England Journal of Medicine, and in the American Economic Review. Her work has been cited extensively by the White House, numerous federal and state agencies and members of Congress. Her IP/Antitrust work was cited by parties on both sides during a recent Supreme Court case. She has appeared frequently before committees of the US House & Senate, the California legislature, and federal agencies such as the FTC, DOJ, USPTO, and the National Academy of Sciences. She participated in the GAO's report to Congress on Artificial Intelligence and in the Army Cyber Institute's threatcasting exercise on weaponization of data. Also joining us on the show this week is our Special Guest - economic advisor and forecaster - Christopher Thornberg, Ph.D.! Christopher Thornberg is founding partner of Beacon Economics, LLC, and one of the nation's leading economists - with expertise in regional economics, labor markets, economic policy, and industry and real estate analysis. Dr. Thornberg famously predicted the sub-prime mortgage market collapse and the global economic recession of 2008. In 2015, he was named to California State Treasurer John Chiang's Council of Economic Advisors, the body that advises the Treasurer on emerging strengths and vulnerabilities within the state's economy. Dr. Thornberg has presented to hundreds of leading business, government, and nonprofit organizations across the globe including Chevron, The New Yorker, Colliers International, the California Chamber of Commerce, City National Bank, the California State Association of Counties, State Farm Insurance, the City of Los Angeles, the California and Nevada Credit Union League, and the National Steel and Shipbuilding Company, among many others. A well-known media commentator, Dr. Thornberg has appeared on CNN and NPR and is regularly quoted in major national dailies including the Wall Street Journal and New York Times. Originally from upstate New York, Dr. Thornberg holds a Ph.D in Business Economics from The Anderson School at UCLA, and a B.S. degree in Business Administration from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
