Colorectal cancer: research prioritisation needed in third most lethal cancer worldwide

Summary: Prioritising research and funding could have a significant impact on reducing colorectal cancer disease burden over the next 5 years. The conclusions are included in a study recently published by Gut and expanded in this podcast titled “Critical research gaps and recommendations to inform research prioritisation for more effective prevention and improved outcomes in colorectal cancer”. In conversation with the journal’s Education Editor Mairi McLean, the leading author of the study, Mark Lawler, identifies 15 critical research gaps which prioritisation and resolution could improve patient outcomes.
