EP 166: MM with Kyle Jackson the Worlds Luckiest Hunter

The Rich Outdoors show

Summary:
Happy Monday everybody and welcome to the show. Today’s guest is known by his friends as probably the luckiest hunter in the world, but if you ask me, the harder you work the luckier you get. Kyle Jackson is a Californian who started as a rifle hunter, and within the last year has become obsessed with archery. Like most other die hards, Kyle hunts multiple states almost every year and has found success in huge variations of country. In this episode, we cover Kyle’s hunter from Spot and stalk blacktail in California, the high country in Colorado, and the most interesting to me would be the OTC Arizona hunt in January. This super late season hunt is action packed but is definitely not guaranteed. Kyle’s got some different tactics that he shares, particularly his ability to call in deer. We also cover a few the challenges that hunters face who are lifetime rifle hunters making the transition to archery hunting for the first time. Thanks for tuning in today guys!

Show Notes:

* Interview starts (3:00)
* Trying to hunt elk and mule deer at the same time (5:45)
* Hunting Colorado (9:00)
* Grinding through the entire day (14:30)
* Hunting big bucks in California (20:00)
* Hunting Arizona (23:00)
* Hunting flat ground (30:45)
* Calling deer (46:00)
* The challenges of bow hunting (50:30)
* Catch up with Kyle (57:00)

This episode is brought to you by OnX Hunt. OnX is a must have for serious hunters and is one of my top tools for $100 dollars. OnX is the most trusted resource for public/private mapping available in all 50 states. The On X Hunt app will turn your phone into one an amazing hunting tool allowing you to not only navigate heavily public/private areas, but with base maps, you can use satellite, topo, and Hybrid mode to navigate with land features. The On X hunt app allows you save maps and be able to use the app and the GPS while in airplane mode. Yes, it is possible through some kind of magic wizardry you can have your phone in airplane mode or have zero service and be able to track exactly where you are. One of my favorite features of On X Hunt is the ability to scout on my desktop mark points of interest, and then automatically have them on my mobile device so when I am in the woods I can see my saved areas, trails, and way points. On X hunt also has the ability to add layers such as roadless areas, timer cuts, burns, and much more. On X Hunt gives me a ton of confidence as a hunter and is just a must have in today’s informant. That’s why it is on my list of best-hunting tools under $100. Check it out and use The rich outdoors Promo Code TRO and save 20% on your membership.
