EP 173: Shooting with Confidence with Mike Johnson of Hell’s Canyon Armory

The Rich Outdoors show

Summary: Hey, guys and gals welcome to the show, its the rich outdoors podcast I am your host Cody Rich. So, I just got back from elk hunting in Montana and first off I can’t thank you guys enough I am overloaded with messages of successful hunts and guys thanking the podcast for the success. That might be the best motivation to keep grinding and producing the show yet. So thank you guys so much and congratulations to all of the listeners who were successful this year. I wanna do a full elk hunt recap so I won’t get into my season too much but in some ways, I had a great year, and in others, it was a struggle. Overall I had a blast and season went by way-way to fast. I set some pretty big goals and came probably as close to reaching them as I ever have both in Oregon and in Montana, but just couldn’t quite get it done for various reasons. I’m sure we will dive more into it on a hunt recap podcast here shortly. Today though I am joined by Mike Johnson of Hell’s Canyon Armory. Mike is a great guy with a huge passion for chasing mule deer and a wealth of knowledge when it comes to long-range shooting and just becoming a more proficient shooter overall. In this episode, we kind of jump all over talking about mule deer, Guns, and telling hunting stories but Mike has some great tips throughout. Hope you guys enjoy this episode and if you are in the market for a new Custom Long Range gun be sure to hit Mike up he is a solid dude.

Show Notes:

* Interview starts (8:00)
* Getting into hunting when you didn’t grow up in a hunting family (12:00)
* Sleep late do great (20:00)
* Killing a deer that you never could before (30:30)
* Hells Canyon Armory (33:00)
* How long range shooting abilities increases hunting success (42:30)
* What’s too far?
