Summary: It seems that when it comes to protecting children from vaccine-preventable diseases, the state legislatures are starting to get it. A review, published in a recent edition of JAMA, found that not one of 36 bills either creating or expanding personal belief exemptions from school vaccination requirements introduced between 2009 and 2012 passed. None! At the same time, 3 of 5 bills tightening exemptions did pass.
