Summary: June 6-10: National Summer Feeding Progam Week. During the school year, more than 21 million children receive free and reduced-price breakfast and lunch through the School Breakfast and National School Lunch Programs. When school lets out, many of these children face a higher risk for hunger. Hunger can make children more prone to illness and other health issues. The Summer Food Service Program is designed to fill the nutrition gap during summer to make sure children get the nutritious meals they need.
