Jesus’ Life (6)

Daily Devotions For The Deaf show

Summary: Sometimes we know that we need to do something for God, but we are not sure we want to do it. Maybe you have felt that way before.
Jesus knew God wanted Him to die on the cross. But His human nature wanted to avoid the pain, suffering and humiliation. So in our Bible verses Jesus asked God, “My Father, if it is possible, don’t make me drink from this cup” (verse 39b). Jesus was asking God if there was another way He could obey Him. But then Jesus added, “But do what you want, not what I want” (verse 39b).
When we want to avoid doing something for God, we may ask Him if there is another way to serve Him. Maybe God will show us another way or maybe He will be silent. God’s silence means that there is no other way. God expects us to obey Him and accept His will.
Jesus is our perfect example of how we should follow God. Humbly serve and obey God today!
