Summary: What are you afraid of? Maybe you are afraid of fire, the dark, being alone or spiders. Even Jesus’ disciples were afraid sometimes. They were afraid when they were in the storm on Lake Galilee (Matthew 8:23-27). They thought they would drown. But Jesus calmed the wind and the waves.
Verse 1a of our Bible Reading says, “Great blessings belong to those who fear and respect the Lord.” What does this mean? It means that we want to do things that please and honor Him instead of things that He does not like.
There will be times in life when we may be afraid of something. That’s when we need to depend on the peace that Jesus gives us. But we also need to fear and respect God and His awesome power.
God loves you and wants you to trust and honor Him.
