Summary: The church is the only thing Jesus ever built. Matthew 16:18 ...on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. The church is the body of Christ. The church is something I am a part of, not something I go to. Acts 2:42-47 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. Acts 2:42-47 All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. A church helps me KNOW God. Ephesians 1:17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. John 17:3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. A church helps me KNOW God.
