She was inspired to write her book after her brother’s death and then further inspired to turn it into a movie. She has been touring with it on the Film Festival circuit and is now working on a new “project” with her Film. A native of the Bronx, New York, Wright, grew up with her mother who was 15 years of age when she gave birth to the first of four children. While her mother earned graduate degrees and became a healthcare professional, she and her younger sister received scholarships to the George School in Newtown, Pennsylvania– a Quaker boarding school. Tanya currently recurs in the role of “Kenya” on the HBO series True Blood, produced by Academy-Award winning writer, Alan Ball. She will next appear in the upcoming feature, Predisposed, starring Jesse Eisenberg and Melissa Leo. Tanya just completed her directorial debut from her screenplay, Butterfly Rising, wrote a book of the same name and is developing a game; Butterfly Rising is a full-fledged transmedia project, a project where one story is told via multiple platforms.
