Summary: <br> <br> <br> Connect your professional XLR podcasting mic to a computer or iOS device with <a href="http://www.shure.com/americas/stories/motiv-digital-microphones">Shure's new MVi from their Motiv product line</a>!<br> The MVi is dsigned for XLR professional microphones or 1/4″-connected instruments. It offers a 3.5 mm headphone out for latency-free monitoring. But the real beauty is in the digital connection. The Shure MVi can connect directly to any PC via USB or to any modern iOS device via MFi-certified Lightning!<br> The XLR/1/4″ combo jack can provide full phantom power when connected via USB, and up to 12 volts of phantom power when connected via Lightning to an iOS device.<br> The <a href="http://www.shure.com/americas/stories/motiv-digital-microphones">Shure MVi</a> provides several DSP modes with built in compression and equalization: flat (unprocessed), speech, singing, accoustic instrument (guitars, strings, piano, etc.), and loud (good for bands).<br> The front capacitive-touch panel offers easy and noiseless switching between DSP modes, mic mute, and gain adjustment, and headphone output levels.<br> Shure includes a high-quality, 24-bit preamp (I have not yet thoroughly tested the noise floor).<br> This is an easy, flexible, and highly portable way to connect your high-quality studio microphone with almost whatever mobile device you have!<br> The <a href="http://www.shure.com/americas/stories/motiv-digital-microphones">Shure MVi</a> with USB will be $99 and the Shure MVi with USB and Lightning will be $129, both available in summer, 2015.<br>
