Summary: Our bi-weekly Music Discovery podcast is finally in full drive. Here’s our most recent edition, an episode featuring New Releases and special picks from our Hip-Hop and R&B genre in the CD Baby catalog. Check out some track-by-track info below. Please enjoy! Maryanne Ito “Feeling You” Waking Up (CD Baby Artist Page) Her album description is right on track: This is such a strong single from a very strong debut album. Maryanne Ito’s vocal performance is beautiful and flawless. The production in this track aint so bad either! YelaWolf “CreekWater” CreekWater (CD Baby Artist Page) Southern rapper Yelawolf’s title track “CreekWater” is more than a pleasure to bring to our Music Discovery Podcast. CreekWater is filled with an older taste in YelaWolf beats and demonstrates an earlier take in his vocal delivery. Overall it showcases an early YelaWolf that has and does rap with drive and finesse. Winfree “Way Beyond” No Negativity (CD Baby Artist Page) “Way Beyond” stands out as a distinct, colorful, falsetto floating R&B track on No Negativity. The beat and the harmonies make the song for me, but clearly Winfree has more to offer than just that. There’s an interesting element of electronic to this jam. I don’t know if I particularly took notice because of the outstanding key tar on the album cover, but it adds a very interesting and stylish element, none-the-less. Johnny Madwreck “Madwreck in the Concept” Long Distance Linguistics (CD Baby Artist Page) Johnny Madwreck’s “Madwreck in the Concept” is a dense, time-travelling, upbeat track that bounces between layers lyrical breaks. The album is a mere 21 tracks, so if this wasn’t enough for you there’s plenty more where that came from. The Other Guys “Memories (Feat. Yu & Substantial)” Seeds of Ambition (CD Baby Artist Page) Producers of Homeboy Sandman (now residing at Stone’s Throw Records) and many other artists, The Other Guys bring you their personal vision at last. This Maryland crew samples for days and flows for weeks. It was hard to pick the best track from their LP because they’re really all very good…not just saying that.
