#300 with Todd and Daryl | 1984...30 Years Later

Summary: Patterns and Delays Human nature seeks meaning patterns. 300 is a nice round number. It sounds official. Razorcake's done 300 podcasts. That's significant, like a road marker. The wheels have stayed on that long. Coast to coast. The numbers bear us out. The theme of this podcast is the year 1984. More numbers. 2014 is the 30th anniversary of 1984. 30 and 300. That's the tie-in. In 1984, I was twelve. I was also living in a rural Nevada town. I hadn't heard punk rock yet, but I'd read about it at the library and was anxious to hear it. I picked up my first punk record in 1985. I purchased it at The Underground in Las Vegas. It was JFA's Blatant Localism. The mid-to-late ‘80s was a rough time for punk rock bands and music. Its popularity was definitely on the wane. It was, however, a pretty great time for a young kid in the middle of nowhere to pick up what would end up as classic vinyl at reasonable prices. Then, as now, I think punk rock is more diverse than people give it credit. I also think that the podcasts that Daryland Idid prior to 300 stand toe-to-toe with the music on this one.
