After hearing from several people that this band was something I was going to enjoy, I have now verified those claims. Brian Eno: Way back in 1973, before Brian Eno was an avant-garde music and studio nerd legend, he was the latest ex-member of Roxy Music. The song here is the first cut from his critically acclaimed debut solo album. While it certainly picks up where he left things off with Roxy Music, the music on this record tends to be more experimental, but amazing just the same. Chris Wollard & The Ship Thieves: I guess most people in this forum would be familiar with Chris Wollard, if not with his more recent work with the Ship Thieves, then from Hot Water Music, The Draft, The Cro(w)s, et. al. He and the Ship Thieves recently released their second full-length on No Idea. It's allegedly a pretty good spin, but since I don't have it yet, I'm playing this other really great song that was released on seven inch a couple years back. Anthrax: Yes. This is Anthrax covering the Sex Pistols. Yes. I played this on purpose. XTC: So I'm just now noticing that XTC would be the second song from a group of ‘70s pseudo-artsy Brit rockers I've played on this show. Don't worry. There's one more. While I can't pin down exactly what has brought about this trend, I will say that anything that motivates the dusting off of XTC LPs is a positive development, in my opinion.
