Summary: In this program, an expert on brain tumors discusses the current perspectives and latest advances in the treatment of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). Evidence-based guidelines for newly diagnosed as well as recurrent GBM are reviewed and analyzed, and recommendations for how to apply them in everyday practice are provided. Additionally, up-to-date data on novel therapies are evaluated, and ongoing clinical trials assessing some of the more promising emerging therapies are highlighted. These topics are discussed in the context of results from a survey of United States–based oncologists and neurosurgeons that was conducted to assess their knowledge of and approaches to treatment of GBM.
