Rudy Gobert 2013 Prospect Profile Podcast

NBA Draft Insider » Podcast show

Summary: Last summer a picture emerged on Twitter of Rudy Gobert and his fantastical 7-9 wingspan that was confirmed at the 2013 NBA Draft Combine (7-8.5) this month. He is a one of a kind prospect thanks to his size, length, and athletic ability for a center in a league where the talent pool for the position is very shallow. Gobert has the potential to be a great defensive center, but is also a vastly underrated offensive player with his efficiency shooting over 70% from the field in nearly every setting. He is a raw prospect that will take 2-3 years to develop strength, offensive skills, and the ability to make an impact on both ends of the floor. One thing Gobert already does is shoot the ball effectively from the free-throw line to the point where he will not be a liability late in games from that standpoint. In the podcast we discuss his basketball roots, growing to his current height, French basketball as a whole, and being an underrated commodity in the upcoming draft.
