007 Kicking Chronic Pain – The Power Of Feet

Kicking Chronic Pain with Tim Vande Sluis show

Summary: The body is an amazing thing. We can do many things with our bodies. Our bodies will even heal from cuts and bruises and broken bones and anything else that physically happens to us. Our body naturally knows what to do and will repair damages done to it. Nutrition is the fuel behind helping our bodies overcome chronic pain and illness. The Power Of Feet Our feet, as part of our bodies, are designed perfectly. They are used and help us get around and do those things that we need and want to do. But we must help our feet in order for our bodies to function properly and not have unnecessary pain. Much of this can depend upon the shoes that we wear. Our shoes influence proprioception. What Is Proprioception http://www.vivobarefoot.com/us/proprioception/ Proprioception is our body's ability to feel its surroundings and act accordingly can only. "Our bodies are incredibly good at moving, often without any conscious involvement. Just think: sitting down, standing up, picking up objects, throwing, catching, jumping, skipping, running... The reason we can make all of these movements without thinking (or falling over) is because of something called 'proprioception' - our body's sense of its own position, balance, and movement. Proprioception provides us with 'body awareness' and is commonly referred to as our "sixth sense"." With an understanding of proprioception we can understand the necessity for proper footwear. The Shoes I Wear Vibram Fivefingers http://www.vibramfivefingers.com/index.htm Vivobarefoot http://www.vivobarefoot.com/us/ Vibram Fivefingers shoes are the best shoe that I found on the market today to help with strengthening the feet overall (including the toes), and training them to be aware of their surroundings or being able to take advantage of proprioception. Vibram Fivefingers shoes strengthen each individual toe and muscle in the foot to build a stronger foundation to walk, run, skip, and do all those things that are necessary in movement. There is much that we can do in order to help our bodies alleviate pain. Many of these things do not have to do with our chronic illnesses and our chronic pain, but have everything to do with our overall wellness and strength of body. As we use External Helps to facilitate healing we are in fact ensuring a better quality of life. There are times when additional short-term pain is required such as the pain involved with building up the strength to walk properly in flat shoes that do not have a large cushion or heel wedge in them. This does take time to strengthen the body and build up endurance in the body, especially in the feet. This can be done over several months and should not be attempted all at once. Common sense when trying something new is important to ensure that we do not injure ourselves, or cause additional long-term pain. Vivobarefoot has a clinic that teaches people how to run properly, and this also applies to walking. We must build up strength in our feet and legs, and knowing the right steps to follow is important. Vivobarefoot Training Clinic http://trainingclinic.vivobarefoot.com/ There is a great wealth of information about running (and walking) safely. We must build up the ability and strength we need. Just as I needed to strengthen my toes and feet in order to feel better; you may need to do the same thing. Learning How To Run http://trainingclinic.vivobarefoot.com/running-the-skill/ In order to succeed with any new skill we must learn the proper techniques. The strengthening skills taught in the "Learning How To Run" page of Vivobarefoot are good whether or not you plan to run or just walk. Learning how to walk or run again may seem like a very stupid thing to do. After-all, we spend our entire lives walking and running. We can always learn new information about common tasks. There is nothing wrong with trying to improve ourselves, and reduce the risk of injury in the future.
