U.S. Ambassador Scott H. DeLisi celebrates World Health Day

Summary: In celebration of World Health Day, on April 10 the U.S. Ambassador Scott H. DeLisi delivered a major health policy speech to a standing room only crowd of medical students and professors at Makerere University's College of Health Sciences. Also in attendance were Ministry of Health officials, members of parliament, journalists, and representatives from the health community along with other U.S. Embassy leadership including the Deputy Chief of Mission, the PEPFAR Coordinator, the Peace Corps Country Director, USAID's Deputy Mission Director, the CDC Country Director, and the country program directors for NIH and Makerere University's Walter Reed Project. The speech, titled, "The U.S. Government and the People of Uganda - Working Together for a Healthier Future," highlighted two key messages: Ugandans must own the future of their health care and the American people stand in partnership with Uganda as it works toward a healthier future.
