Summary: Apps4Africa is an annual, Africa-wide competition sponsored by the U.S. Department of State in partnership with Appfrica International. Apps4Africa 2012--the third annual contest--challenged innovators to develop sustainable, technology-based solutions to youth unemployment. The three winners, including Ugandan Titus Mawano with his app "Ffene," a low-cost business management platform, were honored at a March 6, 2013, closing ceremony at Kampala's Hive Colab, where Ambassador DeLisi and Deputy Assistant Secretary Pelletier congratulated the winning teams. In this clip, Deputy Assistant Secretary Pelletier discusses the importance of technology in moving Africa forward, and emphasizes the U.S. Government's continued commitment to supporting African innovators.
