The BeatsByTravis Podcast
Summary: This is the official podcast of Travis Smith, musician and music marketer working in many fields of the music and hospitality business. Join Travis as he interviews friends, colleagues, and do'ers in the industry!
Stephen and Kevin have been friends and drum-peers for a while. They both are phenominal drummers, and even better humans who have been a part of many amazing projects that are essential pieces to the fabric of the music community that I love so much in NW Arkansas and in the region. On this episode, we talk drums and we talk about how to substain a career as a musician and what advice we would give younger versions of ourselves.
Having a contract for a performance is not only a good idea, but essential business. It legally binds the parameters agreed to on the show, it helps provide information to the artist AND venue on what to expect, and it is the proverbial rug that ties the "event" room together. In this episode, we talk about a standard performance contract. I have two available FREE templates for use, to acquire, email BeatsByTravis@gmail.com with the subject: Contract Me and I will send ASAP.
Mark Summerlin has been a part of the NW Arkansas music community for as long as I can remember. On this episode we talk about his roots in the deep south of Louisiana and his musical synergy with his brothers, his move to NW Arkansas and experience in the creation of the band BE, working production with huge tours and his work with pop icon Seal, and his current southern rock-influenced band, Honeyjack. I have a particular order of operations I go thru after confirming a show. I send a confirmation email with the contract and admin or payment details, promotional materials, flyers, and everything I can think of to get the best start possible to landing with a successful show. I also add how I streamline my social media promotion until the show. www.beatsbytravis.com
