The state America’s health is sorely less than it should be. The U.S. ranks at 26th in life expectancy out of the top 34 nations in the world. Infant mortality is a major measure of health care in the world and the U.S. ranks near the bottom among the wealthiest of nations. There are many reasons for this unacceptable state of affairs.

FORGET POLLEN - YOU COULD BE ALLERGIC TO YOURSELF!Mast cells are white blood cells that are part of the immune system and are designed to fight foreign substances. When these mast cells see something that is foreign and think it is dangerous, it will try to kill whatever the foreign object is. It does that by releasing chemicals it contains inside. Those chemicals are meant to try to kill the bad thing it is seeing- which could be a food, pollen or a virus, and in doing that and releasing the chemicals and killing the foreign object, it backfires and effects our whole body. The chemicals are inflammatory and toxic. They are causing damage to our own body in the process of trying to fight off something else. In some people, the mast cells continue to react even when they don’t have something specific they are reacting to. It is an inappropriate response in the body to something it thinks is there, but may not be there. If the mast cells are primed to react to things, you can eat certain foods and make it worse. CAN YOU GIVE AN EX. OF SOMEONE HAVING MCAS?In very severe cases of mast cell activation, they body is recognizing everything around them as foreign, even things that are not hurting them. If they are spending time with their husband, and they are reacting to something about him (a scent or a hormone) their body recognizes it as foreign and their whole system is overloaded constantly. These people will really have a poor quality of life. The key is to help their immune system start to understand what is really foreign to it and what isn’t. This is a classic case of “the bubble girl.” WHAT ARE THE TOP 5 SUMMER FOODS SOMEONE SHOULD AVOID WHO HAS MCAS? The following 5 foods actually make your allergies worse! Avoid them at all costs this summer. Strawberries and pineapples- trigger allergic reactions- you aren’t actually allergic to the fruit. because the fruits release histamine in the body, the release of histamine acts like an allergy and causes allergic symptoms. Frose- rose wine, strawberries, sugar. Wine can also be a big issue for mast cell patients- wine is fermented and contains histamine itself. It can cause mast cells to react and release more histamines and chemicals. Avocado- can be a big problem with mast cell patients. It is very popular for summer salads- but it can actually cause mast cell reactions. Hot Dogs- cured meat often has nitrates or are cured with celery seed extract. These are all high in histamine. Frozen yogurt- yogurt is a fermented dairy product. Fermented foods are high in histamines, which increases the level of histamines mast cell patients have.
