Episode 11: In conversation with Mel Dyke MBE by Barnsley Museums
Donated to Barnsley Archives by the Ordnance Survey, they give a fascinating snapshot of everyday life in and around Hoyland 65 years ago this year. The collection includes rare photographs of Rockingham Colliery and Elsecar Main Colliery, as well as photographs of Air Raid shelters, pre-fab housing, shops and pubs around Hoyland, Hoyland Common, Elsecar and Hemingfield. To celebrate the 65 year anniversary of the images being taken, staff from Barnsley Museums have recreated a selection of the images with help from local residents.
