Once again we ventured to Sunderland to attend the marvellous event organised by Tucky and his fantastic team – and aside from transport issues on the Sunday we can honestly say that SunnyCon 2 was fabulous – in every sense of the word. Unfortunately the weather didn’t reflect the title of the convention and some people (hello campers), found that their tents had become kites. Anyone who has attended Animex knows that it is all it is first and foremost an educational festival, but even though the talks are informative, insightful, and a true eye-opener for anyone wanting to enter a variety of media-based industries, many people consider the lounge events to be the real highlights of the week. These evenings allow students and visitors to speak directly with some of the biggest names on the production side of games, movies, and now even comics – and people can even get valuable feedback on their own work from industry experts! Over the last few years we've had the privilege of attending many different shows and conventions, but one in particular has become an integral part of our events calendar as it offers us the chance to interview the movers and shakers from a variety of entertainment industries. This year Animex celebrated the 10th anniversary of Game, and with a new director in charge and a new Comics event, we looked forward to seeing how the event had changed and grown over the last year. Suffice to say that Animex was even better than any of us expected. The organisers and all of the red-shirted volunteers (none of whom were allowed to form landing parties by the way), put together an event to remember.
