It's July, the Summer heat is here to stay and there's no better time to be on the road. In this episode, we head out on the road to check in with Dead & Company and Phil Lesh. Both bands are doing some great things on stages all over the place so I've pulled a couple great jams to either cool down or heat up your listening space. These jams can do both. After that, we reach into the vault for some good old Grateful Dead.

Hey there, Dead Freaks! It's summer time and the time is right for long, sick jams. This episode finds me digging into a serious dose of those along with some other great tunes. No guest, not a lotta nonsense, just good old Grateful Dead.

Osiris goes to Delfest, Phil Cook comes on the show to talk about his new record, and we listen to some good old Grateful Dead.

This week we resume our trek up the Oregon trail with WFMU host, fellow Dead Freak, and walking musical compendium, Jeff Conklin. As before, Jeff has selected a few more great tracks from the Grateful Dead's many visits to Oregon. We listen to and discuss those along with some other great stuff including the magic of audience tapes, and the fabulously deep catalog of fellow traveler Matt Valentine.

Listeners and Dead Freaks, this episode features a terrific chat with WFMU host, Deadhead, and encyclopedia on far-out music of all kinds, Jeff Conklin. Jeff's show on WFMU is The Avant Ghetto and there he spins all manner of psychedelic and experimental tunes including some terrific selections by our beloved Grateful Dead. We talk about his development as a Deadhead and then dug into studying the vast riches resulting from the Dead's many visits to the great state of Oregon.

I put together a little mix to go along with the first open-window days of the season. Plus, I did promise you kind and patient listeners a shot of good old Grateful Dead. This mix reaches back 50, 40, and 30 years to 1968, '78, and '88 for material. The tracks range from jams to cowboy songs and it hangs together despite the disparate eras represented.

We've got a special and unusual episode for you this time around. I had the great fortune to join my good friend and head of Osiris, RJ Bee, at a Golden Gate Wingmen show late last month. The show, at The Hamilton Live, was the kick-off for a short tour and it was a blast. To make things even more exciting, we got to meet and interview the band. Jeff Chimenti (keys, vocals), John Kadlecik (guitar, vocals), Jay Lane (drums, vocals), and Reed Mathis (bass, vocals) were friendly, forthcoming, and entertaining. Although the men in the top hats have disturbed the groundhogs, hibernation isn't quite over so we have a one-part episode this month. Here's hoping the hot jams warm your home. This go round, I'm dusting off a mix that I assembled several years back that amounts to a fairly epic survey of the song Playing In The Band. In true Grateful Dead fashion, this jam covers a lot of ground and should not disappoint. The full breakdown of included clips is listed below.
