What would be the Mavs' most realistic trade offer for Bradley Beal? | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 2578

On this episode, Dalton and Matt start off by discussing the second round of the NBA Playoffs, including the Miami Heat knocking out Giannis Antetokounmpo and the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks in just 5 games. How could this complicate things with Giannis and the Bucks going forward? Even if he declines his extension, is one for year of true title contention worth risking Giannis walk away in free agency? Do the Mavs have a legitimate shot at him? All of that is answered in the first half of this episode. In the second half, the guys discuss the possibility of the Mavs pursuing a Bradley Beal trade on draft night, including what they think the most realistic trade offer from Dallas would be.  Mavs Offseason Mailbag: If Milwaukee trades Giannis, should Dallas offer Porzingis? | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 3837

On this week's massive hour-long episode, Dalton and Matt spend the majority of the time answering listeners' questions about potential options the Mavs could have this offseason. Some of these topics include what type of players Dallas should target, what players are worth the Mavs trading their draft picks for, and the most interesting topic of all... if Giannis declines the Bucks' super max extension, and the Bucks decide they need to trade him, should the Mavs potentially offer Porzingis in order to get Giannis in the door before 2021 free agency? Given contract lengths, would it be too much of a risk? The guys discuss all that and much, much more. Thanks for listening, and thanks for submitting your questions!  Mavs eliminated by Clippers in Game 6: Luka Doncic - 'My only goal is a championship' | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 2313

On this episode, the guys recap the Mavs' 111-97 Game 6 loss to the Clippers, which officially brought their 2019-2020 season to a close. Luka Doncic was amazing while facing elimination for the first time in his career, finishing with 38 points, nine rebounds and nine assists, but wasn't able to overcome the mounting injuries that the Mavs suffered as a whole all season long. After talking about the game, the guys immediately look towards the Mavs' future with the NBA Draft, Free Agency, and potential trades that could be made to improve the roster heading into next season.  Mavs/Clippers Game 5 Recap, Game 6 Preview, and why the NBA needs to suspend Marcus Morris | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1808

On this episode, Dalton and Matt discuss how things got so ugly for the Mavs in their lopsided 154-111 Game 5 loss to the Clippers on Tuesday night and what the team must do on Thursday to push this series to a Game 7. Also, the guys talk about how NBA should suspend Marcus Morris for what looked like an intentional attempt to step on Luka Doncic's hurt ankle.  “BANG!”: Luka Doncic downs Clippers at the buzzer in Game 4 to give Mavs the win! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2637

On this episode, the guys gleefully talk about the Dallas Mavericks' unreal Game 4 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers. Luka Doncic, who was questionable before the game with an ankle injury, ended up starting for the Mavs and played the best game of his young career with 43 points, 17 rebounds, 13 assists and one huge step-back buzzer-beating three-pointer in overtime to give his team the 135-133 win. Dalton and Matt talk about the greatness of Luka's performance and much, much more. Thanks for listening! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/step-back-mavs/support

Mavs fall to Clippers in Game 3, 130-122, as Luka suffers ankle injury | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1710

On this episode, the guys recap the Dallas Mavericks' 130-122 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 3 of their first round series. Despite the Mavs outscoring the Clippers 37-28 in the fourth quarter, it wasn't enough to overcome the second quarter, where the Clippers outscored the Mavs 45-31. Luka Doncic became the first Maverick to ever record a triple double in the playoffs with 13 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists, but his night took a turn for the worst when he suffered a nasty ankle sprain, putting his status for Game 4 in question. As good as Porzingis was, and as much as the rest of Doncic's teammates tried to rally in his absence, Kawhi Leonard's dominant performance was just too much to overcome. We discuss all of this and more in this episode. As always, thanks for listening! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/step-back-mavs/support

From Luka Doncic putting up 28/8/7 in just 28 minutes, to Kristaps Porzingis bouncing back from his Game 1 ejection, we discuss all that and so much more in this one. This week, Mavs owner Mark Cuban joined Dalton Trigg and Matt Galatzan on the Mavs Step Back Podcast to talk about how the team lived up to his personal preseason expectations, his thoughts on Doncic and Porzingis' first season playing together, the Mavs' upcoming playoff series against the Los Angeles Clippers, what's next for the Mavs heading into this offseason, and how COVID-19 could have a lingering effect on many aspects of the NBA going forward.  Mavs vs. Clippers Playoff Preview: What Luka & Co. have to do to pull off the upset! | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 1591

Can the Mavs realistically make a seven-game playoff series competitive with the Clippers? Could they even potentially pull off a major upset when it's all said and done? We believe so, and Dalton Trigg (@dalton_trigg) and Matt Galatzan (@MattGalatzan) layout the blueprint for a Mavs upset of the Clippers in this week's episode of the Mavs Step Back Podcast.  Mavs/Clippers recap: When 'good' just isn't quite good enough | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 2081

On this episode, Dalton and Matt talk about the Mavs' 126-111 lost to the Los Angeles Clippers, including some positives that can be taken from that game as the potential Mavs/Clippers playoff series looms, as well as some hard truths going forward.  'Halleluka!' ... We Finally Have a Mavs Win in the Bubble! | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 1771

On this episode, the guys recap the Mavs' 114-110 overtime win over the Kings, which ended a two-game losing skid. With the win, the Mavs are still the only team in the entire NBA to have not lost three games in a row. Luka Doncic put up a monster performance in this one, scoring 34 points to go with 20 rebounds and 12 assists. Doncic became the youngest player to ever put up a 30-20-10 stat line. The guys discuss how this Luka performance reminded them of some of Dirk Nowitzki's performances back in the day, where he would just seem to will the Mavs to victory at times. Is there any way the Mavs could upset the Clippers in the playoffs if Doncic is playing that way on a nightly basis? Catch all that Mavs talk and more right here.  Mavs Basketball is FINALLY BACK! | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 2367

On this episode, Dalton Trigg (@dalton_trigg) and Matt Galatzan (@MattGalatzan) express their joy from the NBA (and Dallas Mavericks basketball, specifically) finally being back in action, as scrimmages officially began on Wednesday. The Mavs will play their first scrimmage against the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night at 6 p.m. From there, the guys discuss how the Mavs have taken over the 'bubble' from a social media standpoint, and how that show of great chemistry could help them going into the future. Other topics discussed include how the NBA's bubble experiment is working perfectly so far, and wondering why the Mavs didn't take a chance on Bol Bol last summer when they had the opportunity.  Can the Mavs Start Their '3rd Star' Recruiting in Orlando? | File Type: audio/x-m4a | Duration: 1898

On this episode, Dalton Trigg and Matt Galatzan are joined by DallasBasketball.com's boss man Mike Fisher to discuss all things Mavs Bubble-related. First, the guys dive into a couple of recent 105.3 The Fan interviews with TNT's Kenny Smith and Mavs head coach Rick Carlisle. Smith believes that the Mavs don't need a '3rd star,' something we've also written about here at DBcom in recent weeks. Is he right?  In the second half of this episode, Fish talks about his personal expectations for the Mavs as they prepare to fly to Orlando for the NBA restart set to take place on July 30 (July 31 for the Mavs). Although this NBA bubble experiment is mostly about playing basketball and finishing the season, Fish offers up an interesting point about how this could be the Mavs opportunity to start informally recruiting their '3rd star,' should they decide that they need one. As always, thanks for listening! On this episode, the guys discuss former Mavs head coach Avery Johnson saying Dallas could be a 'sneaky' pick to get to the NBA Finals this season with Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis playing at their best, as well as Trey Burke taking Willie Cauley-Stein's roster spot. From there, the guys talk about to newly released Mavs 'Orlando Bubble' schedule and make predictions for that eight-game stretch.
