Episode 5 - The Insanity of an Abusive Marriage | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:06:32

On today’s podcast I begin a new series on marriage and the complicated nature of it all when abuse and infidelity become tangled up in the vows of commitment. Throughout this series you’ll hear from different couples, individuals, and the struggles and wisdom they’ve gained as they’ve gone through the journey of staying or going. As you listen, I encourage you to keep an open mind, knowing that marriage and the individual intricacies and intimacies are complicated, even in Christian marriages. As Christians, we learn to stick it out, for the most part, no matter what, but sometimes there are situations that aren’t cut and dry, and the key is to put our marriages before the Lord and talk to Him and follow Him. At the end of the day though, it takes the humility and courage of two people wholly committed to making a marriage work. Sometimes that just isn’t the case. The stories you hear are just that, people’s individual stories. You and I might not endorse everything we hear, but that’s okay, because my goal is to have us listen and learn something and even when we don’t understand, we can have compassion. So at the end of the day, even if we might disagree or be confused, that’s okay. And if you have questions or comments, please feel free to write to podcast@sarahmae.com. With all said, we are opening our series today with Allison Fallon, who is an author, writing coach, and speaker. I met Allison a few years ago when we worked together on a writing course, and she is tender and smart and inspiring. She is also divorced, and today, we’re going to hear her story. At the end of today’s podcast you’ll hear a preview of next week’s episode where I talk to a woman who caught her husband texting with another woman, making plans to meet up with her. You’re also going to hear from the husband.
