Finally closing the door on the dog days of summer, Fall Camp is right at our doiorstep and no one is more fired up than your folks here at Locked Seminoles, your favorite daily Florida State Seminoles sports podcast, to get you primed and ready to go for the 2022 college football schedule.  Today, Max and Drake are pumped up for fall camp and want to touch on what they want to hear, see and expect form the Seminoles this camp staring with the unquestioned QB1 Jordan Travis. With this being the first camp in his career where he is in the driver’s seat when it comes ot the starting job, what will that do for Jordan Travis’ development during what many be the most important fall camp of Mike Norvell’s FSU career?  While Jordan Travis is the focal point of the offense, what abut the weapons around him? Is Cam McDonald gone be a focal point of the offense? Will Mycah Pittman and Johnny Wilson be solid options as they come in form Oregon and Arizona State respectively? Then on the defensive side of the ball, do we need to hear more about these young defensive backs led by Omarion Cooper and Kevin Knowles and can Azaryeah Thomas breakthrough into the rotation a true freshman and will this defensive line live up to their elite billing as Fabien Lovett is a man on a mission headed to 2022.  Lastly, we wrap up with some hot takes as it is Max’s turn to give his opinion. As things stand, FSU is stuck in the ACC until 2036. There are many theories circulating about how the Seminoles could leave for the Big 10 or the SEC. Most of these are based on pure speculation and wishful thinking. In what is hopefully the final conference realignment episode of the offseason, Max and Dave play "Mythbusters" with the various exit strategies that have been raised in the Locked On Seminoles Mailbag this past week. Max explains why unequal revenue sharing could be a short-term band-aide to keep the top schools in the ACC competitive. The two discuss why adding more teams to the ACC does not help Florida State leave the conference. Addressing expansion, Max and Dave discuss how many schools could add more revenue to the ACC than they would take thus being a net addition to the conference. Unfortunately, there aren't many. Finally, they examine the jailbreak strategy discussing if enough ACC schools could find profitable landing spots in other conferences to make a mass exodus feasible. The Florida State Seminoles have suffered yet another QB decommitment. After Sam Howell, Luke Altmeyer, Nicco Marchiol, and others, the Noles were hoping to not get hurt again. Unfortunately, four-star QB recruit Chris Parson made the FSU faithful's fears a reality. Chris Parson had expressed to staff that he wanted to be the only quarterback on Mike Norvell and Co's recruiting board and was unhappy when offers were extended to Brock Glenn and Ricky Collins. The coaches felt that one QB couldn't fill their need for depth in the position group and the partnership between Parson and FSU failed to launch. Fortunately, this news comes in the same week as top 150 prospect, four-star offensive tackle, Lucas Simmons announced his commitment to Florida State. Lucas is a hulking 6'7, 300lb big man with a unique brand of athleticism developed by him growing up in Europe. The son of Able Simmons, former University of Oklahoma offensive lineman, Lucas is a huge addition for the 2023 and another feather in the cap of Offensive Line Coach Alex Atkins. Coach Atkins continues to transform the OL room from FSU's greatest liability to a legitimate strength of the program. Tell us if you've heard this before? Top defensive back recruit states that Florida State is no longer their top option. Social media has been in a frenzy with reports that FSU is being considered for membership by the SEC. Florida State fans seem to see this as a solution to many of the Noles' problems. However, Max and Drake's discussion of a hypothetical FSU admission to the SEC concludes with words of warning; the Seminoles must find ways to bring in more money from sources other than TV revenue if they expect to compete with SEC powers like Alabama and Georgia. Four Star Offensive Tackle Lucas Simmons from Clearwater by way of Sweden has decided to announce his commitment on Monday, July 11th. Dave and Max discuss what securing the commitment of a top Offensive Line prospect would mean for the Seminoles. They also talk about how much weight they put into verbal commitments in the wake of the notable signing day flips Florida State has experienced. Finally, they wrap up the recruiting talk by pondering how FSU fans should view recruiting compared to their in-state rivals. They discuss why what Miami is willing to pay for a QB may not be representative of that player's value and why FSU fans need to Next, the conversation turns to conference realignment as the two catch up for the first time since USC and UCLA announced their intentions to leave the PAC 12 for the Big 10. First, they set the table with the need to be weary of heavily repeated but unsubstantiated Twitter rumors. Dave worries that FSU risks missing the realignment boat if they do not act soon. Max believes that FSU is too important of a brand to miss out and that the ACC exodus can only occur with Florida State so no ACC team can move without them also leaving the conference. Florida State Football added four star Defensive End Keldric Faulk to their 2023 recruiting class on Tuesday afternoon. The Seminoles beat out in-state Auburn and rival Clemson to secure a commitment from the 2023 class's 86th ranked overall player. Max and Drake break down why this is a huge win for the Noles. Not only does Keldric project to be an important piece on the field, but the commitment of Faulk shows that Mike Norvell and Co still have what it takes to compete with national powers on the recruiting trail. Next, the duo give their thoughts on Keldric Faulk as a prospect. They discuss his highlight tape and the athleticism he displays by playing both defensive end and wide receiver while also playing basketball. Finally, the hosts begin their discussion on conference realignment. There is a lot of chatter among the FSU fanbase about Florida State going to the SEC. However, Max and Drake think the Big 10 would make more sense. There is more money to be made in the Big 10 based on current projections, the team would gain more national exposure, and they both have reason to believe FSU would be a better fit in the Big 10 based on academic standards. The ACC has dropped division to the benefit of FSU. Florida State will play Clemson, University of Miami, and Syracuse every year and five other conference opponents in a format that guarantees they play each team in the conference every other year. Without divisions, Florida State now has a better shot at going to the ACC Championship Game each year. Going forward, the Conference Champion will be decided between the two best teams, period. The guys share their thoughts on this new format. They talk about the implications of the Seminoles having the three permanent opponents they do. They also look at which teams in the ACC got good pods and which may have gotten a less than favorable draw. Finally, they examine how past seasons would have been different under this format and if this will bring more parity or just solidify the dominance of the conference's top teams. Florida State's 2021 season can be looked at as a lost season. They take themselves back to that night in Doak on Labor Day weekend against Notre Dame to remember their instant reactions, their takeaways and nearly a year later what did that game show that was evident of this football team throughout the course of the full season.  Offensive line depth strongly being an issue throughout the early going. The play calling living a lot to be desired in clutch moments. The wide receivers simply continuing off from the year before of simply not producing and being effective at a power 5 level. Chris Parson is the bell cow for the 2023 FSU recruiting class and it seems as if the writing is on the wall when it comes to him ending up in Tallahassee come signing day. Phil Steele’s All American and All-ACC selections are out and Florida State has representation on not one but both of these lists and the fellas here at Locked On Seminoles, your favorite daily Florida State Seminoles sports podcast, is her and ready to give their thoughts.  First, Jammie Robinson is the lone representative for the Noles on the pre-season all American list after a quality first year with the Noles. While the fellas think this is already deserving, they explain why they think that this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the talented Defensive back leading DBU this upcoming 2022 season. Further on, the fellas have All-ACC representation on both sides of the ball with some familiar faces and even a representative form the special teams unit, I know Dave was as shocked as we were when special teams got a shout out. Dave explains why Alex Mastromanno may actually be potentially the most game changing punter in the conference, why he is pleasantly surprised to see Oregon Transfer Mycah Pittman on the list and who he thinks was not only a surprising snub, but someone he thinks could play themselves onto the list at season’s end.  Wrapping up today’s show the fellas look towards the strongest position groups on the team as well as the position group that may be the most surprising.
