The More Cowbell Show

Imagine having a nationwide audience and telling said audience that a 6-6, probation-shackled team is better than a 9-win team that returns 18 starters. You'd have to be drunk or blind to come to that conclusion, but somebody did it.

So there's plenty of football talk in this edition of More Cowbell. We talk Nick Fitzgerald, Joe Moorhead and all that. But we also talk about the shark mascot. Because, dammit, it's too ridiculous to ignore.

Some national pundits love Mississippi State this season, as Chris Doering of SEC Network picked MSU to go 11-1 and chose the Bulldogs as his sleeper for the College Football Playoff. Other experts don't watch as much football. Guys like CBS analyst Jerry Palm, who projected the Bulldogs to the Liberty Bowl. But no matter the opinion, MSU has everyone's attention this year. And that's a good thing.

ESPN analyst Trevor Matich had some interesting things to say about the Bulldogs on Wednesday, saying MSU is going to "break a lot of hearts in the SEC this season." He also said State will obliterate its record of six drafted players, which happened in 1995.
