Ben Hancock graduated from Virginia Tech in 1968 and was drafted into the U.S. Army the same year. Ben spent one year in Vietnam. Upon returning home, he married Lynn on Valentine's Day. They have been married 48 years. They moved to Virginia Beach in 1971, where Ben bought into Gentle Rain Irrigation Company. Ben bought the company in 1979 and retired in 2012. Ben and Lynn have two sons, Ben Jr. and Sam, daughter-in-law, RaeAnn and twin grandsons, Trey and Jack. Ben currently spends his time volunteering at the SPCA, and at Spring Branch. He serves with MOPS, ushering, and landscaping. In 2017, he received the Out on a Limb Award for outstanding volunteer service at Spring Branch.

Nina is a contributor to The Presbyterian Outlook Magazine in the areas of education, faith practices and curriculum. She is married to Travis and they have four daughters, who, depending on age, have between 14 and 24 school days left until summer. Not that anyone is counting.
