 15 - Deadpool Review (2016) | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 130:50

Deadpool was 2016's surprise success after Ryan Reynold's an co. had spent years trying to push Fox to make the movie. It was the release of previously unseen test footage and internet fan reaction that convinced the studio to give the movie the green light, though the team would need to work with tighter budget constraints than other movies in the X-Men franchise.Deadpool first appeared in New Mutants #98 (also Domino's first appearence) and was created by Fabien Nicieza and Rob Liefeld back in 1991. Due to the characters aesthetic design by Liefeld and similarity to the DC character Deathstroke, civilian name being Slade Wilson, Nicieza decided on the name Wade Wilson, as a quite public in-joke. Initially cast as a villain, over the years he's been developed by other writers as more of an anti-hero. In particular the Jo Kelly run for Deadpool's self titled series developed a lot of character traits that we know today, including breaking the forth wall. Some movie details: IMDB rating: 8.0 Rotten Tomatoes Audience Score: 90% Director: Tim MillerWriter(s): Rhett Reese, Paul WernickThere are SPOILERS!  9 - Sin City (2005) Review | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 140:35

Sin City was a ground breaking movie released in 2005 and brought the stories to screen like no comic book had been before! Sin City was a series of stories written by Frank Miller and published by Dark Horse comics, starting in 1991.  Frank Miller had come to prominence in the early 1980's with the Daredevil book and left an influential stamp on his character that can be seen today. He also wrote Dark Knight Returns, which is widely regarded as one of Batman's best stories. Miller's crime and noir style could be seen in these mainstream comics, but with Sin City he takes that to a new level. The movie was primarily championed by Robert Rodriguez, who convinced Miller and also Quentin Tarantino to join him in this project to bring Sin City to the big screen. We discuss what we thought of the movie, and how it holds up years later. Some movie details: IMDB rating: 8.0 Directors: Frank Miller, Robert Rodriguez, Quentin Tarantino (special guest) Writer: Frank Miller There are SPOILERS! The script borrows heavily from Nightmare on Elm Street and a little from the X-Men Animated Series, and characters are chosen and created very much with the budget in mind. Listen to see what we made of this first step on the way to bringing the X-Men to the big screen. Some movie details: IMDB rating: 4.7Director: Jack SholderWriter: Eric BlakeneyBudget:$7,000,000 (estimated)There are SPOILERS!  7 - Batman (1989) Review | File Type: audio/mp3 | Duration: 133:20

In this episode we discuss the 1989 Tim Burton Batman movie. For Comics Background: The Batman character first appeared in Detective Comics #27 in 1939 and was initially created by artist Bob Kane. For years Bob was credited as the sole creator for Batman and it wasn't until 2015, with the release of Batman Vs Superman, that Warner Bros. acknowledged Bill Finger as the co-creator. The Writer, Finger, had significant influence over the costume design including giving him his distinctive cowl, cape and gloves. Recommendations for Batman stories which have influenced this movie:Dark Knight Returns (Frank Miller) - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Batman-Knight-Returns-Frank-Miller-ebook/dp/B0064W66HY. The Killing Joke (Alan Moore, Brian Bolland) - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Batman-Killing-Deluxe-Alan-Moore-ebook/dp/B009POHHRG. For Movie Background: The movie was hailed as both a critical and financial success, grossing over $400M at the box office. The movie could have been very different from the earlier script revisions looking at Bill Murray as Batman, Eddie Murphy as Robin and and Robin Williams as the Joker! We take a walk through the plot and immersed into the murky world created by Burton, and atmospheric score from Danny Elfman. But does it live up to the expectations and memories we had from watching it all those years ago??  There are SPOILERS!
