We're back and so excited for season two of the No Thanks We're Booked podcast! We want to know all of your favorite reads from 2018 and what you're most looking forward to reading in 2019.
We dragged our husbands onto the podcast! If you can even hear us past all the laughter, we talked about Steve's and Aaron's reading taste, Mollie Mayhem and Katie Chaos moments, our favorite books and Thanksgiving sides (after much deliberation), and much more! Thanks so much for sticking with us for an entire season, listeners! We're so thankful for you, and we're excited for season 2! Stay booked, and stay tuned for more information on what's coming next! We'll see you in 2019!
Welcome to our penultimate episode of No Thanks We’re Booked’s Season One! Today Mollie and Katie chat about what they’re reading, catch up a little bit, and talk about all the exciting things they hope for in Season Two. They’re not going anywhere! Just taking a little break over the holidays to plan and gear up for things to come! Email the podcast at nothankswerebooked@gmail.com to give us some feedback (just be gentle).
Hi listeners! As I mentioned in the beginning of this episode, we wanted to apologize for the audio quality—we had some audio tech issues! We talk about Karin’s publishing journey, what it’s like to be an author, why YA is so important, and so much more! Plus, some fun stories about Katie and Karin as kids (Mollie wishes she had been friends with them back then *tears*).
HAPPY HALLOWEEN FRIENDS! We hope you’re having a very spooky day! Today, we are so excited to talk with our friend Stephanie from Books in the Freezer - a podcast dedicated to horror books. We talk about the fact that Mollie and Katie are big scaredy cats and don’t read much horror (well, Mollie never, and Katie rarely) and how to dip your toes into the genre if you never have before. Stephanie is SO much fun and SO articulate. We hope you enjoy her as much as we do!
Well friends, we asked, and you answered. We're sharing ALL of our bookish problems in this new episode! What do you do when all your library holds come in at once? Want to read diversely, but don't know where to start? How do you push past the fear of annotating? How do you prioritize reading over responsibilities in life? Do you pick the new release or a backlist title for your next read?
Last month, Katie and Mollie read I Am, I Am, I Am: Seventeen Brushes with Death by Maggie O’Farrell for the No Thanks, We’re Booked book club and were inspired to talk about their own (sort of) near death experiences. We all have ‘em, even if they don’t feel eventful. M & K even share some of the stories that you, our listeners, sent in to us. We love when you chime in, friends!
Hi everyone! This was such a special episode for us because we got to hear some of YOUR favorite classics! Thanks to all our listeners who sent in audio clips. You inspired us to read new and revisit old classics!
In today’s episode Mollie and Katie attempt to name their favorite books of all time. And they mostly accomplish it. But it’s hard when you’ve got favorites that span categories...should favorite children’s books be lumped in with favorite adult books? Should favorite fantasy be mixed in with favorite literary fiction? The struggle to pick favorite books is real, friends. The struggle is real. IT’S SO HARD.
Chatting with vlogbrothers cohost and debut author Hank Green was such a treat, friends! We talked about his new book, An Absolutely Remarkable Thing, and the motivation behind it, what it was like working on it, what it has to say about power, internet fame, and how culture deals with the uncertain and unknown. This is an important book, listeners, and we're so thankful to Hank for writing it (not to mention it's a total page-turner!).
Today Mollie and Katie catch up a little bit about their busy summers before diving into talking about all things re-reads. We talk about all the reasons for re-reading and we mention a few of the books we’ve re-read ourselves. We even drop a Friends reference or two...because there’s a Friends reference for every situation in life. So says Katie, anyway.
Hi friends and readers! Katie and I spent this entire episode catching up on what we've been reading (and the book-to-movie adaptations we've been watching), including Anne of Green Gables, To All the Boys I've Loved Before, Crazy Rich Asians, Walk Two Moons, and so much more. Check it out and let us know what you're currently reading!
In today’s episode, Kenzie, Mollie’s IRL friend, avid reader, and Special Education Teacher joins us to talk about disability representation in books. We discuss great books where the main characters have a disability, some not so great books, and we discuss the need for more disabilities represented across genres, and done well. Kenzie also loves Anne of Green Gables, so we gush about our favorite carrot top and try not to leave Mollie behind (who was four pages into reading the book while recording).
Today, we're catching up in a rather informal, chatty episode! We talk about what's going on in life, what we're reading (and we GUSH about The Great Alone), and answer some rapid-fire questions, including: Favorite summer read? Unpopular bookish opinions? Where would you live if you could live anywhere? What books have gotten you through a rough patch?
In today’s episode we talk about all kinds transformation stories. We mention how most good stories include transformation but how that may be different from a transformation story. And we talk about the transformations we’ve gone through in our own life. We switch things up this week and talk about the books we want to read next rather than what we’re currently reading. AND we talk about the author dinner parties we’d love to crash - listen to find out who those authors are!
