Dealing with loneliness as an entrepreneur - EMP133 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 15:10

Today I talk about how I deal with the loneliness of entrepreneurship. When I first quit my corporate job, I had no idea what to focus on or do. I quickly realized that working alone at home all day was going to drive me nuts.  I share a few tips such as going to networking events or working from coffee shops to help get that "social energy" that can be missing when you're just alone at home all the time.

 Drown out the noise - EMP131 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 12:10

This episode is about drowning out the noise. Sometimes you have to put your phone on "Do Not Disturb" and just focus on the work.  You'll get a lot of feedback and opinions from everyone during your journey. You have to know what to listen to and what to ignore. People may want the best for you but give you poor advice that will slow you down.

 Commit first, then act - EMP130 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 12:14

Today I talk about a trick to make sure you take action. You commit. Once you tell people you are going to do something (especially if you are partnering with someone on something like hosting an event), it becomes set in stone.  From there, you have to perform. Set a deadline, sign up for the course, book a venue to host an event, etc. Once you commit, you then will have to act to honor that commitment.

 How to maintain self-discipline while pursuing goals - EMP125 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 10:44

In this episode, I talk about how to maintain self-discipline while pursuing goals. Many of us set goals but then have a hard time sticking to the things we know we need to do. Having a list in site can help, as well as having accountability partners. Also try to create physical barriers to bad habits. For example, say you want to stop snacking late at night. You could put a lock on your pantry to physically keep yourself out (extreme but still effective).
