The Kavanaugh confirmation circus continues… for one more week at least. In a stunning turnaround on Friday. Sen Jeff Flake announced that he would vote for Judge Kavanaugh, but wanted an FBI investigation into the credible allegations against him. So that is where we are now, The FBI is going to issue a report on its findings, but make no determination about the allegations. Ginger Gibson, political reporter for Reuters joins us to make sense of the ongoing Supreme Court drama. Next, a new report has said that the “gig” economy may not be the workforce of the future, but that isn’t stopping rideshare companies from trying to attract new drivers. Lyft has said that you can get a guaranteed $2500/month, even though drivers earn about half as much as they did 5 years ago. Jefferson Graham, host of the talking tech podcast joins us to talk about how much you can make and why you always have to pay attention to the fine print. Finally, we have all been there. You’re in a funk and you can’t get out of it. How about using fear to lift you out. Next, there have been many pet owners who have taken their dogs to be groomed only for them to die shortly after. People are pointing the finger at practices and negligence at PetSmart locations as the cause for their pet’s deaths. NJ.com conducted a 9 month investigation into these deaths and detailed their findings in their report Groomed, then gone. They spoke to pet owners who had dogs that died and current and former PetSmart employees. The spectacular fall for a man once known as America’s Dad is complete for now.  Bill Cosby has been sentenced to 3-10 years in prison for drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand and was taken away after his hearing in handcuffs, an image that many thought they would never see. Claudia Rosenbaum, reporter for Buzzfeed News, joins us for more on the sentencing and Cosby’s classification as a sexually violent predator. Next, President Trump is once again at the top of the World Stage as he delivered an address to the UN General Assembly touching on a wide variety of topics. Trump had tough words for Iran, defended his trade policies, rejected globalism, and promoted the sovereignty of the US and other countries.  Nahal Toosi, foreign affairs correspondent for Politico joins us for what the President said and what caused some in the audience to laugh at during his speech. Finally, it seems Millennials are actually doing something right.  They are staying married.  According to a new analysis, younger couples are causing the divorce rate to plummet.  They are being pickier about who they marry and tying the knot at older ages when education, careers and finances are on track. Thursday will continue to be the biggest day in Washington this week. Christine Blasey Ford will testify about sexual assault allegations she made about Brett Kavanaugh. We now find out that they is another accuser, and possibly more. Kavanaugh continues to deny all. Thursday will also host a meeting between Rod Rosenstein and President Trump about his future at the justice department after news came that Rosenstein was ready to resign. Ginger Gibson, political reporter for Reuters joins us to break it all down. Next, DNA comes through again! Sacramento police arrested the man known as the NorCal Rapist, and the investigation was almost identical to that of the Golden State Killer. DNA was entered into genealogy website GEDmatch.com and investigators followed the family tree until they zeroed in on their suspect. Sam Stanton, reporter for the Sacramento Bee, joins us for how investigators did it again. Finally, in a story of survival with a happy ending, an Indonesian teenager was rescued after surviving 49 days out at sea with little to no supplies. Aldi Novel Adilang was working on a floating fish trap when his tether snapped and wind pushed him out to sea. He survived by catching fish and drinking sea water he squeezed from his clothes. A tentative deal has been reached… and it’s going down on Thursday.  Lawyers for Christine Blasey Ford have agreed that she will testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee to provide a firsthand account of her allegations against Brett Kavanaugh. Ford’s testimony is the last thing standing in the way of Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the Supreme Court.  Ginger Gibson, political reporter for Reuters, joins us for what to watch for and whether the President will fire Rod Rosenstein. Next, School districts across the country are modernizing dress codes, signaling the end to standards that have been around for a while.  After backlash that dress codes are sexist and unfairly target girls, some schools are beginning to allow spaghetti straps, midriff baring shirts, miniskirts and short shorts. Next, we touch base again with Wilmington, North Carolina and see how people are coping in the aftermath of Florence. Flooding still persists and more may be on the way.  Some are just getting power back and others are just exhausted from the whole ordeal.  Alex Riley, reporter for the Wilmington Star News, fills us in on how the recovery efforts are going in an area hit hardest by the storm. Finally, after the Sunspot Solar Observatory in New Mexico mysteriously closed earlier this month and scientists were evacuated, people were left wondering if dangerous solar flares were to follow or if aliens had anything to do with it.  Well we now know what happened.  The facility was closed due to an FBI investigation about child pornography.  We found out that the janitor was up to no good at night. Finally, a recent scientific mission into the secret ocean lair of California’s great white sharks has provided some clues into why these sharks migrate every winter and spring to an area that seemed to be a big empty void in the sea.
