On this episode of the Support is Sexy podcast, I share what I did to get started when I first conceptualized the podcast in hopes of inspiring you to get started today on your next thing.
On this episode, I share a lesson in personal development from Mindlight Group CEO Esther Weinberg that really hit home. Esther asked: "What you do is a direct reflection of who you are and where you are in life cycle of your business. [Ask yourself:] What is it about me that needs to shift in order to have the possibility for everything else to shift?" It's time to stretch and shift!
Be. Do. Have. This is an important distinction that I first heard of in Momentum, the personal development workshop I attended in 2015, that was truly a game changer for me. So when you're thinking about your goals, your dreams, your aspirations, your vision for yourself, your business and your life, consider: Who is the woman you get to become to become the woman you have to be?
And then what else? And then what else? How far are you willing to go to make your dreams a reality?
This is something that I have to remind myself of all the time. It's easy to get stuck in a rut in the way you've done something foreva and to be resistant to feedback even though it may help you move forward in an empowered way. But as I have learned, it pays to get outside perspective from trusted sources -- a coach, a mentor, a mastermind -- that will give you insight on opportunities for advancement that may be sitting dormant in your blind spots.
On this episode of the Support is Sexy podcast, our lesson comes from an interview with brand strategist and professional speaker Michelle Villalobos (who was episode 358) who spoke about the important distinction between the engines and the anchors in your life.
On this episode I share a lesson I learned from Support is Sexy guest Heather Havenwood (episode 356), who shared a period when she was feeling stuck and her friend and mentor said to her, "you're not a tree, you can move." Listen to hear how this lesson applies to that reinvention, pivot or move that you've been longing to make for way too long.
We're not talking about all those times you twerk in your kitchen when no one is watching (because, who doesn't?!!). But what do you do when it comes to your commitment and consistency within your business when no one is watching? Do you slack off or do you stay the course? Your answer could be the difference between success and struggle.
Trust the timing of your life. On this episode of the Support is Sexy podcast, I share an important lesson that I learned from Kierna Mayo, who was a guest on episode 153, where she talked about the importance of realizing that "there's a time for the light and the time for the lab." And when you're in the lab, your focus is THE WORK, not the shine. The shine will come when it's your time.
This advice from Intensati creator Patricia Moreno on episode 26 of the Support is Sexy podcast, changed my life. As entrepreneurs, we always want to know the answers, right? We're solutions-driven, so questions make us uneasy. In this episode I share how the lesson of learning to live the question has absolutely changed my life and how I move forward and handle the uncertain moments in my business.
For the next 12 episodes of the Support is Sexy podcast, I'm revisiting 2017 wth lessons learned from women featured on the podcast and that I've learned in this journey of entrepreneurship. Lessons that I hope will set you up for success in the new year! This is our own twist of the "12 days of Christmas," and whether you celebrate Christmas or not, I hope you'll consider this a special gif as you head into 2018!
