Hottest 100s and 1000s

Summary: Since 1993, the Hottest 100 has been the largest annual music poll in the world. Countless acts have graced the chart, from Dido to Depeche Mode. We're going to talk about all of them. Hottest 100s and 1000s is a Sydney-based podcast hosted by longtime friends Adam Buncher, Andrew McDonald, David James Young and Nathan Harrison. They look back at every Hottest 100; and every song that has been deemed hot enough to be a part of it over the course of 20+ years.

REMIX '99 - Something Chill, Something Horny, Something Sad, Something Silly | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 4895

It's the week before the big day. We've got our dress sorted, the venue planned and the priest booked in. Now, all we need before we can finally walk down the aisle with the Hottest 100 of 1999 are four very special things. This episode, we each select a song that we would have loved to see grace the countdown - and it's arguably the weirdest remix we've ever done. Plus we take some negative singing lessons, slack off from work, refuse to do our taxes, go through some of your takes (thanks!) and hear once again from everyone's favourite old mate, Dekka (...less thanks). It's the podcast episode that's three surprises in one! First, five more tracks from the triple j hottest 100 of 199. Then, our trademark, razor sharp discourse. And then, I dunno, a whole bunch of stuff about having sympathy for comedians, having no sympathy for suspected magicians, karaoke loving punks, punk loving DT teachers and the plastic filled food we all know and love... Welcome to another episode of this magnificently presented and researched podcast where, when it comes to songs that have made it into the triple j hottest 100 of 1999, we always have all the facts and know exactly what we're talking about, absolutely. We also don't have any emotional feelings about the songs or geek about how much their keys change or how much they do or do not reference quantum physics. And we definitely never shotgunned custard as teenagers, either. And if you hear anything contrary to that, it's likely you're in an alternate universe- or maybe you have the wrong version of this episode? SONGS COVERED: 45. Gerling - Enter Space Capsule 44. As we cross the threshold of the first half of the 1999 triple j hottest 100, we put some sick burns on 7 year olds, debate the safest artists to knock, take a victory lap, defy all kinds of sex laws and do a lot of thinking.  Season 7, Episode 9: Slaves to Our Brands | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3574

There are many things in life that hold power over us. The genre of music we play dictating our pants choices. The alphabets we are familiar with limiting how we apply sauce. Children on too much sugar at a party. A commitment to reviewing every song that has ever made it into a triple j hottest 100. But as we near the half way point of 1999, the question we are faced with is- could our own ideas of ourselves be the most limiting thing of all? Or is it still the pants thing? SONGS COVERED: 60.
