NFL Week 6 - In the Game with Jermaine Wiggins & Matt Chatham | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:38:00

Former NFL tight end and New England native Jermaine Wiggins joins the show.  The guys start with a review of the inconsistent QB play around the NFL as up & down QBs like Josh McCown and Nick Foles have played Jekyll and Hyde in past weeks.  The guys then dive into the sneaky-good start of the Carolina Panthers and address the question of whether Cam Newton is playing at a higher level than Russell Wilson despite both QBs having similarly questionable situations with their offensive weapons.  This talk includes Wiggy covering the challenges that face a route runner when playing with a mobile quarterback like these two, and how that might affect a highly-coveted free agent's decision to play for a team with a non-traditional QB.  The fellas then tackle the question of what separates this Bengals teams from past units that eventually slipped into "same 'ol Bengals" territory.  The guys then conclude with an overview of the Patriots-Colts game from a players' perspective.  Jam-packed show....we hope you enjoy it!

The guys then look ahead to the Week 6 matchups for the weekend.  Enjoy!

NFL Week 1 INSight Matchup Preview | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:32:00

With fifteen NFL games on opening weekend of the season, we go through each one, spotlighting fifteen specific, under-the-radar matchups that will have a big impact in each contest.  League rock stars like Suh, Brady, Rodgers and Watt deserve the attention they get, but FBF goes deeper with a look at some less obvious game-within-the-game situations that'll play a crucial role in the final score.  How do the Packers try to exploit Jared Allen's move to OLB?  How do the Chargers account for the promise of Detroit's Ameer Abdullah?  With Jimmy Graham drawing extra coverage attention in Seattle, who benefits most?  With all the attention offenses must pay to Texans like JJ Watt and Jadeveon Clowney, who can exploit the 1-on-1 matchup their bound to get?  The Adrian Peterson Show comes to San Francisco, but whose production jumps when the defense shifts their attention to AP?  And many more.  Enjoy the pod...hopefully we can help you see the game a new way!

NFL Kickoff Preview: Patriots vs Steelers | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:37:00

Matt Chatham is joined by former New England Patriots TE Christian Fauria and former Pittsburgh Steelers OT Max Starks to preview the Thursday kickoff to the NFL season.  With the environment in Gillette Stadium bound to be charged to an all-time high from the off-field scandal orchestrated by the NFL (and then booted out of court by federal judge Richard Berman), the guys focus on the keys to the action on the field.  Big Ben Roethlisberger will be without three of his best players on offense (center, running back, and wide receiver).  So can a short-handed Steelers offense -- that at full-strength figured to be one of the better offenses in football -- keep pace as Tom Brady returns to action?  The Patriots have their own uncertainty, with Brady's top offensive weapons not seeing game action, plus having their own starting running back suspended for the opener.  Uncertainty abounds, but the FBF guys break down the madness... Enjoy!

NFL Injury Update: Where Do Teams Stand for Week 1? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:35:00

Former NFL players Brady Quinn and Matt Chatham go around the NFL for a roster status check on the all-important injury front, exploring both fantasy and real football implications.  The guys look at (relatively) healthy rosters like the Oakland Raiders and discuss the advantages of playing September football with a near-whole roster.  They then dig into teams like the New England Patriots, the Dallas Cowboys, the New Orleans Saints, the Indianapolis Colts, the Chicago Bears, and the New York Giants -- discussing the issues of health that each face and what the uncertainties likely mean for their early-season onfield product.  Finally, the guys share some behind the scenes injury maintenance talk (that only players would know) to lend some insight into what those rehabbing players are dealing with -- like Arian Foster, Victor Cruz, Phillip Dorsett, CJ Spiller, and Brandon Lafell.  Enjoy!

SEC Football Preview | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:38:00

Former players Matt Chatham, Brady Quinn & Derek Rackley explore the 2015 prospects for the SEC to produce another national champion after a couple year hiatus from the crown.  The Big Ten is gaining.  The PAC is gaining.  The Big 12 has a couple national champion contenders in TCU & Baylor.  FSU is still loaded with talent.  But is this all just a passing thing and the SEC will return to dominance in 2015?  The talent still present in the conference was undeniable with so many top players in the 2015 NFL Draft again coming out of the conference.  But that said, quarterback questions abound for the majority of the SEC teams heading into Week 1 of this season, so we discuss why most of the top QBs in college football don't seem to be coming out of the talent-laiden SEC.  Who's the favorite to win it all...Auburn?  Alabama?  Georgia?  Or somebody else?  Why does Mizzou get so little preseason respect?  And much more on another engaging episode of the FBF Podcast!

ACC Football Preview | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 00:38:00

Matt Chatham and Brady Quinn continue their college football preview series of Power 5 conferences by headiing out to the ACC.  Florida State has owned the conference in recent years, with most discussions centering on whether or not the strength of the conference was enough to keep FSU on top while staying undefeated.  The guys start by discussing this year's big Boston College vs Notre Dame game to be played November 21st at Fenway Park, and how cool games in historic venues can positiviely affect players and recruiting.  2015 figures to be a much more competitive affair at the top of the conference as question marks abound - specifically from a collection of close-but-not-quite-there programs like Clemson, Georgia Tech, Louisville, and Virginia Tech looking to climb to the top of the heap as Florida State reloads.  The guys get into the keys to winning the conference, some sleeper schools to keep an eye on, and a discussion of the year ahead for some of the conference's best players. Enjoy!
