She worked first as elementary school teacher and then as home-schooling mother for many years. Besides writing books, she has contributed to newspapers and magazines around the world and has translated the works of several authors from English into Italian and vice versa. Presently, she lives in San Diego with her husband Thomas and the youngest of her eight children. She is a member and Sunday School teacher at Christ United Reformed Church. This week on Theology on the Go, Dr. Jonathan Master is joined by Dr. Gary Millar. Gary has been the Principal of Queensland Theological College (QTC) since the start of 2012. After studying chemistry in his home city of Belfast, Gary moved to Aberdeen in Scotland to study theology, before completing a D.Phil at Oxford on Deuteronomy. Gary worked as a pastor for the next 17 years in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland and was involved in both church revitalization and church planting, before moving to Brisbane to lead the team at QTC. Gary teaches Old Testament, Biblical Theology and Preaching, and preaches every Tuesday morning in college chapel. Gary has written on Deuteronomy (Now Choose Life in the NSBT series, Time and Place in Deuteronomy JSOTS 174), Prayer (Calling On the Name of the Lord: A Biblical Theology of Prayer also in the NSBT series) and Preaching (Saving Eutychus, written with Phil Campbell), and contributed to several other works. He has taught theology at the University of Nottingham, and has held three fellowships at the University of Cambridge, where he has researched the history and theology of the Westminster assembly and taught on the subject of Puritanism. A former British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow, in 2013 he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society in recognition of his five-volume work on the Westminster assembly, published by Oxford University Press. Van Dixhoorn also serves as an honorary research fellow in the School of History at the University of East Anglia, UK. Van Dixhoorn has lectured at RTS Washington since 2008 where he teaches church history and practical theology. He has served as Associate Professor of Church history at RTS Washington since 2013, as Chancellor’s Professor of Historical Theology for RTS since 2015, and he is a minister in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church. Van Dixhoorn served as a pastor at Cambridge Presbyterian Church (UK) and then at Grace Presbyterian Church (Vienna, VA) for nine years. This week on Theology on the Go, our host, Dr. Jonathan Master is joined by Dr. Barry York. Since 2013, Dr. York has been professor of pastoral theology and Dean of Faculty at the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Pittsburgh. However, before serving the seminary, Dr. York was sent to Kokomo, Indiana, as a church planter in 1991.  Through an evangelistic and disciple-making ministry the congregation of Sycamore Reformed Presbyterian Church was organized in 1994, where Barry served as pastor until June of 2013.  From 2002-2013 he also served as the administrator and a teacher for Sycamore Covenant Academy, an educational and service program devoted to preparing covenant youth for college and life.  He also is the general editor of the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Journal and co-hosts a podcast called 3GT. Dr. Gordon taught at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, where he was professor of modern history and deputy director of the St. Andrews Reformation Studies Institute, before joining the faculty of Yale Divinity School in 2008. Dr. Gordon’s research and teaching focus on European religious cultures of the late-medieval and early modern periods, with a particular interest in the Reformation and its reception. His most recent book is John Calvin’s Institutes of the Christian Religion (Princeton 2016), which looks at the reception from the sixteenth century to the age of YouTube of one of the defining works of the Reformation. He is the author of Calvin (Yale, 2009), a biography of the Genevan reformer, and the Swiss Reformation (Manchester, 2002), a Choice Magazine “Outstanding Publication” (2003). Dr. Gordon teaches and supervises graduate students in a broad range of medieval and early modern subjects and their resonances in contemporary historiography and society. In 2012 he received an honorary doctorate from the University of Zurich. Today Dr. Master will continue his discussion with Dr. Gordon in the second of a two part series on John Calvin. This week on Theology on the Go, our host, Dr. Jonathan Master is joined by Dr. Robert Cara.  Dr. Cara is the Hugh and Sallie Reaves Professor of New Testament at Reformed Theological Seminary-Charlotte and Provost and Chief Academic Officer for the Reformed Theological Seminary institution.  He has been a professor at RTS since 1993. Dr. Cara was an engineer for seven years before the Lord re-directed him toward seminary. In addition to the traditional New Testament topics, Dr. Cara's academic interests include relating the New Testament to Reformed Theology, creeds, hermeneutics, Second Temple Judaism documents, and narrative criticism. He and his wife Courtney live with their three children in Warminster, PA. He has held appointments as Visiting Research Fellow in the School of History and Anthropology at Queen’s University Belfast and Visiting Scholar at Princeton Theological Seminary for his ongoing work in the history of biblical interpretation. Prior to coming to PRTS, Dr. VanDoodewaard taught at Patrick Henry Col­lege, near Washington, D.C., and at Huntington University in Indiana. He has written for Books & Culture, The Journal of British Studies, Themelios, Puritan Reformed Journal, Westminster Theological Journal, and online at The Gospel Coalition and Reformation21. He is also a contributor to a number of books, and the author of two: The Quest for the Historical Adam and The Marrow Controversy and Seceder Tradition. Dr. VanDoodewaard is an ordained minister who has served as a church planter; he worships with his family at Harvest Orthodox Presbyterian Church. After completing his doctorate in history at the University of Wisconsin, Madison (1973), he served as director of the Center for Reformation Research in St. Louis (1973-1977). Concordia College, St. Paul, called him in 1977 to teaching positions in the departments of religion and history; he also served as acting president (1989-1990). In 1993 Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, called him to be Missions Professor of systematic theology and director of the Institute for Mission Studies. From 1994 through 2010 he taught abroad, chiefly in post-Soviet Europe, for three months of the year. Dr. Kolb served as associate editor (1973-1994) and co-editor (1995-1997) of The Sixteenth Century Journal and is still co-editor, with A.R. Victor Raj, of Missio Apostolica (since 1996). He was a member of the Commission on Theology and Church Relations of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (1984-1992) and its chair (1990-1992). He served as president of the Sixteenth Century Studies Conference (1981-1982) and the Society for Reformation Research (1994-1996). Since 1993 he has been a member of the Continuation Committee of the International Congress for Luther Research. Kolb has lectured at more than 40 educational institutions on five continents and at many ecclesiastical gatherings. Since 1996 he has been Gastdozent at the Lutherische Theologische Hochschule in Oberursel, Germany. Valparaiso University (2000), Concordia University Saint Paul (2005), and Concordia University Irvine (2008) have awarded him the Doctor of Letters honorary degree. Dr. Kolb has published extensively and he is an expert in the life and theology of Martin Luther.  This week will focus on the theology of Martin Luther.
