Sound the Body Double Worst Movie of The Year Klaxon! It's Suspiria! Congratulations to Suspiria Films Discussed: ADAM SANDLER: 100% FRESH FIRST MAN SUSPIRIA (1977) DEEP RED INFERNO SUSPIRIA (2018)
Like Jonah Hill's new movie Mid90s, we remember the mid 90s*, and we pay tribute to the best chronicler of that era's visual style and attitude, Gregg Araki. We discuss his Teen Apocalypse Trilogy with our friend, filmmaker Tyler Taormina. * - I only remember the late 90s Films Discussed: -LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT -SUPPORT THE GIRLS -MID90S -TOTALLY FUCKED UP -THE DOOM GENERATION -NOWHERE
We watched several movies that came out in early October, 1989. Thought about calling this the Nate 2 Birthday Extravaganza but that seemed mean. Happy birthday to the best cohost I could ever ask for, signed, Nate 1. Films Discussed: HEREDITARY FIRST MAN DRUGSTORE COWBOY JOHNNY HANDSOME CRIMES AND MISDEMEANORS BLACK RAIN
We watched all four versions of A Star Is Born (almost) and none are as good as the version Clint Eastwood would have made with Beyonce. Just kidding, but this did give us another chance to bring up Clint Eastwood. did you guys see The Mule trailer? looks sick. our tribute to Burt Reynolds and the 1970s, when everything was unspeakably nasty and gross. Why was everything so brown and weird? Probably had to do with Vietnam. Films Discussed: THE LAND OF STEADY HABITS THE LONGEST YARD WHITE LIGHTNING GATOR AT LONG LAST LOVE
Instead of watching movies about the War on Terror from the perspective of law enforcement (seriously, none of them are even half as good as 24), we mainly discussed movies about the War on Terror from the perspective of terrorists. Films Discussed: SUPPORT THE GIRLS THE UNKNOWN KNOWN FOUR LIONS NOCTURAMA WAR OF THE WORLDS
In honor of the fake labor day started by the government to make sure all the sheeple forget about May Day and the forthcoming communist uprising, we watched V for Vendetta.
We have a good wax about the wacky town we are sometimes ashamed but mostly proud to call home: why Los Angeles of course! As lifelong Angelasenos, we feel a special bond to the movies that take place around the corner from where we hang our hats. And there's some great hat hanging in the film noirs we discuss on this episode! We talk about The Long Goodbye, Inherent Vice, Brick, and Nightcrawler.
We love Spike Lee but disagree on BlackkKlansman. There's a lot of fireworks in this one! And entirely too many minutes on why I hated Eighth Grade. it stunk! Don't get me going again!
It has no present AND no future! We discuss The Revenant, and then a bunch of other westerns from the 2010s but to be honest I blacked out due to apathy. It's a fun listen!
it's Rio Bravo. Also discussed - Westworld, and Sorry To Bother You.
We celebrate the birthday of one of America's best and most underheralded maker of westerns. And what better way to do that than by recapping several episodes of Westworld, a western with a twist? Westworld, watch it on HBO. Critics are raving, viewers are craving, and you are hayving a great time watching it! Westworld
Part 1 of our month long celebration of westerns and condemnation of Westworld. One of us was supposed to watch episodes of Westworld as homework and report on them. One of us apparently has never seen a single one of the major westerns and now has to catch up with The Searchers and such. Are these the same person? Hmmmmmm
