Action Jaxn -- The Fall of the Last "Good Black Man" | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:31:30

In this episode, the Bruthas tell of the rise and fall of Derrick "Action" Jaxn, an Internet relationship guru who raise to fame and promise as a relationship expert, only to be revealed as a serial cheater. The Bruthas briefly recap his rise to prominence and fall from grace before dwelving into the deeper issues at play; namely, why are these type of scandals so common? Specifically, they attempt to answer these questions: (1) Why is it only MEN who can't control ourselves? You never hear about rich and famous women screwing everything that moves? (2) If you've got it going on, is it possible to be a "good man"? (3) How do we, as men, raise sons that will be better than our janky asses?

 Episode 58 -- Sistas Trump White Supremacy ... Again | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:24:44

The Bruthas recorded this episode on the night after the 2020 election. At the time, the race was still "too close to call" as ballots were being counted in key battle ground states. Yet, one thing was clear -- if Biden does win, it will be largely to the tremendous support from ... of course ... BLACK WOMEN. They turned out in records numbers and voted Democratic more faithful than any other demographic. After discussing the results of the various state races and the current vote totals in those still undecided, the Bruthas turned their attention to the question of actually removing Trump from office should Biden reach 270 electoral votes. Trump has vowed to the fight "'til the end." What could that mean in practical terms in terms of his litigation strategy and what other desperate measures he might employ, including a possible subversion of the Electoral College by turning to "faithless electors"? The Bruthas also discuss how to finally get some political gains in consideration of our crucial support for the Democratic Party. And finally, they address the black rappers who made their voices "heard" in the lead-up to the election; possibly (or maybe, even hopefully) for the last time.

 Episode 57 -- The COVIDfirmation Hearings | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:38:59

The Bruthas also give a brief history of confirmation hearings and explain how it has become the modern spectacle that it now represents.  Episode 56 -- Breonna's Life Mattered | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 02:01:49

In this episode, the Bruthas are joined by fellow brutha-n-law attorney and comedian, Robert Jenkins, to discuss the decision to NOT prosecute the killers of Breonna Taylor. In this very candid discussion, the Bruthas attempt to process their thoughts on where do we go from here ... and ALL options are laid out on the table.

 Episode 55 -- Rest in Power, King T'Challa | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:37:37

In this episode, the Bruthas commiserate about the shocking news of Chadwich Boseman’s death and fondly remember his incredible movie career playing such black icons as Jackie Robinson, James Brown, Thurgood Marshall and, of course, Black Panther. Wakanda forever! Also, the Bruthas say their goodbyes to legendary college basketball coach, John Thompson. The Bruthas also discuss the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin and the after-effects it caused in professional sports; in particular, the short-lived NBA walkout. The Bruthas also discuss the role of President Obama in bringing the players back on the court and give some interesting perspectives on Obama’s impact as an elder statesman for the black community during the Black Lives Matter era. The Bruthas also discuss the latest incident of a white woman attempted to pass herself off as black and debate the role that white allies play in black liberation. Furthermore, they discuss whether or not, the black community is doing enough to incentivize their participation in the struggle in light of the tremendous incentive that black folks are provided to uphold white supremacy. Finally, we discuss the latest reports that R. Kelly was the victim of an assault while in jail awaiting trial. This prompts the beginnings of a discussion on the culture of toxic masculinity that produces men who view exploiting women as our “reward” for professional success.

Episode 54 -- Is That Demon Sperm on the Red Table? | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:30:05

We also discuss * Efforts by the professional sports leagues to complete their seasons * Kanye's very short presidential run * The entanglement of Will Smith, Jada Pinkett and August Alsina * The tragic shooting of Megan Thee Stallion * The very generous gifts of Mackenzie Scott (Bezos) to HBCUs And finally, we pay our respects for the passing of legendary civil rights icons -- Congressman John Lewis and Reverend C.T. Vivian.

Episode 52 -- The Bruthas are All the Way Live | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:52:05

In response to a monumental week of civil unrest following the monstrous killing of George Floyd by the Minneapolis police, the Bruthas decided to broadcast their first LIVE episode of the podcast and invited listeners to an interactive Zoom-like program. In addition to receive several questions and comments by live chat, we were joined by our dear Sista-n-Law, Carmelita White. Needless to say, the emotions were raw, but we were able to have a constructive dialogue on the way forward (i.e., emigrating to Africa).

 Episode 51 -- The Bruthas Three | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:38:16

In this episode, the Bruthas are joined by Brutha O'Neal Saunders. O'Neal is both a lawyer and also a very funny guy. Unfortunately, the main topic for this episode was not funny at all -- the killings of more innocent black people -- Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor. That said, the Bruthas do get an opportunity to talk to O'Neal about his career path as an in-house lawyer for a major international company.

The Bruthas also discuss the somewhat shocking endorsement of Trump by DEMOCRATIC politician (and HBCU alum) Vernon Jones.  Episode 47 -- Sorry, America is Closed | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:17:57

In this episode, the primary topic for the Bruthas is the closing of America due to the spread of the coronavirus. In a surprisingly funny recap, they explain the progression of the crisis and what we can expect from here (Spoiler alert: You're not going to like it). In particular, they provide suggestions on how to survive not just the virus itself, but the much more dangerous situation of spending so much time with your loved ones. The Bruthas also discuss the not-so-inconsequential developments in the Democratic primary race and whether they think Bernie Sanders still has a viable path to the nomination (Spoiler alert: He's doesn't). They also discuss the disappointing end to the Warren candidacy. And, in perhaps the only good news of the week, Harvey Weinstein finally was dealt some measure of justice when he was sentenced to 23 years in prison for sexual assault. The Bruthas will share their legal insights into process itself and what it could mean in the constant fight to hold men accountable in the #metoo era.

 Episode 46 -- Black and Bloom | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 01:28:20

During this episode, the Bruthas discuss the rise of former NYC Mayor and gazillionaire, Michael "Stop and Frisk" Bloomberg. And while at the very time of this recording, Elizabeth Warren was making him black and bloom during the Nevada debate, there are 64 billion reasons to suspect that Frisky will be back. So listen to the Bruthas explain why that is not a good thing for anyone, especially if you are black. The Bruthas also give their takes on the latest social media wars -- Gayle King vs. Snoop and D. Wade v. Lil Boosie. In doing so, they attempt to extract the important lessons for all of us to learn about accountability, contribution and most importantly, why no one who named himself "Boosie" should have a social media account. Lastly, the Bruthas actually put on their law hats and discuss the Crown (Create a Respectful and Open Workplace for Natural Hair) Act, which is making its way through a number of state legislatures. They explain exactly how the law works and what it will (and won't) do to allow black folks to wear natural hair styles at school and in the workplace.

In entertainment news, the Bruthas give their assessment of the Grammy Awards (spoiler alert: Not enough black people won awards). They also give their review of the latest Tyler Perry comedy (despite the fact that the movie is supposed to be a legal thriller).
