Happy Easter! Hope you are all well and spending the day with friends and family. I have been crazy busy and have a lag in posting my podcasts by a couple days but am trying to get caught up. On this episode of the NP Dude podcast I follow up on an issue discussed on Episode 044 when a new NP’s first job isn’t going well. I give my take on how to protect yourself if sensitive information is involved and how you can get into trouble with knowledge of your employer’s malfeasance. I also give a personal example of how a patient may have slipped through the cracks because providers aren’t “closing the loop.” Please give me comments below or on the Facebook page. You can always send me a PM through Facebook or email me at Jeff@TheNPDude.com!
So we have talked about the FNP in the ED but today on this episode of the NP Dude podcast I bring this issue to the table and give my recommendations on how I would approach it. I also discuss some more general items regarding contract negotiations to get you in the right mind set to start the process. I am always available for questions, comments, or concerns you are having, so email me at Jeff@TheNPDude.com, comment below, or leave me a note on Facebook. Don’t forget to like and share the Facebook page and give me a rating on iTunes!
On this Sunday edition of the NP Dude podcast, I give my ideas on how I would handle my first job if it was going south! Would I go right to the lawyers? Well, you’ll have to listen to find out! I also give my experience regarding my “orientation” period, how it’s different from that of an RN, how and many patients I started out seeing as a new NP. Keep those likes and shares going on “The Facebook” and don’t forget to give me a rating on iTunes. Comment below or on my Facebook page and email your questions or concerns to Jeff@TheNPDude.com. Thanks for listening and have a great week!
On this episode of the NP Dude podcast, I talk about my issues with charting including “closing the loop” on patient problems and seek your expert guidance on how I can get faster (and better) at charting. I also respond to a listener’s question regarding Ohio’s new law regarding our externship hours! Catch me on iTunes and leave me a rating there too! As always, I want your comments, questions, and concerns, so leave a note below, email me at Jeff@TheNPDude.com, comment on my Facebook page, or send me a PM! Keep up the great work liking and sharing the Facebook page. We are getting closer to my 1,000 likes goal!
On this episode of the NP Dude podcast I re-introduce my self in a short version of my first episode. So this topic has recently popped up and like most Ohio rules and regulations there has been a huge amount of disinformation, speculation and confusion…but stay tuned all you non-Ohioians as this may be coming to your state soon, too! Today I give my view on the new rules and give you the information straight from the Governor’s mouth, literally! There will definitely need to be follow ups on this topic as things develop so if there is more information out there, or you see new information as it develops, please email it to me at Jeff@TheNPDude.com or provide links in the comments section below, on my Facebook page or send me a PM! Thanks for listening and don’t forget to like and share the Facebook page to all your friends and tell them to have a listen on iTunes. On this episode I have my first guest on the show and I had a blast! My friend Joe stopped by for a discussion about options for FNPs to obtain credibility to work in the ED and more on FNP scope of practice. We also discuss what it is like to be male in the nursing world and how Joe has been received in his new role as an NP in the ED setting. Keep sharing and commenting below or on the Facebook page. You can also email me at Jeff@TheNPDude.com with any comments, questions, or concerns! Have a listen on iTunes and spread the word!
I had a great time camping last weekend with the Scouts but I came home with a bad cold and lost my voice to boot, so please forgive my raspy voice! Today I take a look at how Canada uses their NPs as a predictor of how we may end up if (or when) we become a single payer system. I also make a correction brought to me by a commenter who is participating in the HRSA loan repayment program and give my opinion on things to look at for taking a position working in the home health setting. Thanks again for listening and I apologize again for the lull in activity. Email me at Jeff@TheNPDude.com, leave comments below, or on the Facebook page. Keep liking and sharing the show and tell your friends to listen on iTunes!
Sorry for the delay in getting this episode out. I recorded it last Wednesday and I unfortunately ran out of steam when I was trying to prepare for a cub scout camping trip. On this episode I talk about the big picture aspects of evaluating whether you should start your own business and what my approach would be to get it done! I also mention the seminars that are popping up about “How I Started My Practice” and my view on whether these are valuable. I also mention getting credentialed with insurers and hint to some ways I would try drumming up clients for a new practice! Thanks for listening and don’t forget to keep sending me your ideas, comments and concerns! Keep the likes and shares going on Facebook and tell your friends to have a listen on iTunes!
We did it! We hit 500 Facebook likes before the end of the weekend. Thanks again for sharing and telling your friends about the podcast. Today I respond and give my opinion on whether you should give a consulted practitioner’s records when a patient requests their records from you. Like most of my answers, it depends! I also answer how I approach patients that self diagnose from reading the internet. Have a listen and give me your feedback below, on the Facebook page, or email me at Jeff@TheNPDude.com. Thanks again for listening and let’s shoot for 1,000 likes!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Today I talk about my view of the history of the medical model of health care, where we are headed and why I think we are perfectly positioned for the changes to come! I also respond to a Facebook comment to me about how to deal with passive-aggressive physicians. It was a beautiful drive when I recorded the show but we are back to a full whiteout snow storm again so be careful if you are going out tonight! I appreciate the support you all have been giving the show and you are doing a great job spreading the word. Comment below or on the Facebook page, send me an email at Jeff@TheNPDude.com, and remember to like and share as much as possible!
Almost to 500 likes on Facebook! Keep up on spreading the word. Yesterday I recorded this show but did not get a chance to publish it. In this episode, I give some basic info about what to expect if you do get that certified letter to be worried about. I also explain the differences in the types of witnesses and why it matters. While I am discussing witnesses, I spend some time talking about what it takes to be an expert witness. Thanks for listening, sharing the show, and let’s push for that big 500! Add your comments or questions below or on the Facebook page. You can always PM me or send an email to Jeff@TheNPDude.com. I fixed the iTunes feed so you should be able to see all of the episodes now (thanks for the heads up!), so keep telling your friends to have a listen!
